STAR fullback Tom Trbojevic is likely to be named in the 21-man squad by Manly this afternoon but the club will wait a couple of days before deciding whether to risk him against Newcastle on Friday night.
Trbojevic is close to being ready but with the Sea Eagles having the bye next week they will err on the side of caution if their star fullback has not fully recovered from the leg injury he suffered last month against Brisbane.
Meanwhile, South Sydney’s spluttering campaign could be about to get worse with halfback Adam Reynolds struggling to be fit for Friday’s crunch game against the Broncos.
While the return of Greg Inglis to training as early as Tuesday will boost the spirits around Redfern, the sight of Reynolds with his left knee heavily strapped on Monday caused plenty of concern.
The little No.7 was put through a few running drills with physio Eddie Farah first thing with the pair exchanging a series of concerned looks.
He failed to feature in the afternoon field session, with The Daily Telegraph spotting Luke Kelly running with the main group.
SHARKS V STORM
Thursday 8 June, 7.50pm Southern Cross Group Stadium
Sharks: Key players James Maloney, Andrew Fifita and Wade Graham return from NSW duty.
Storm: Captain Cameron Smith (sternum) will play despite picking up an injury that needs to be managed for the rest of the year. “He’s going to pull up sweet this week,” said winger Josh Addo-Carr. “He’s fit and well to go this week.”
KNIGHTS V SEA EAGLES
Friday 9 June, 6.00pm Lottoland
Knights: To come
Sea Eagles: Fullback Tom Trbojevic is likely to be named in the 21-man squad but the club will wait a couple of days before deciding whether to risk him against Newcastle on Friday night.
He’s close to being ready but with the Sea Eagles having the bye next week they will err on the side of caution if their star fullback has not fully recovered from the leg injury he suffered last month against Brisbane.
BRONCOS V RABBITOHS
Friday 9 June, 7.50pm Suncorp Stadium
Broncos: Five-eighth Anthony Milford (concussion) and utility Kodi Nikorima (shoulder) return. Expect Benji Marshall to drop out for Milford, while Nikorima will likely replace Jayden Su’a on the bench.
Rabbitohs: Playmaker Adam Reynolds (knee) is in doubt, with Luke Kelly training at halfback on Monday.
TITANS V WARRIORS
Saturday 10 June, 3.00pm Cbus Super Stadium
Titans: Hooker Nathan Peats (cork) returns from injury, with Karl Lawton the likely omission.
Warriors: Got through the weekend unscathed and expected to be unchanged.
PANTHERS V RAIDERS
Saturday 10 June, 5.30pm Carrington Park, Bathurst
Panthers: Peter Wallace (groin) is a chance to return, but coach Anthony Griffin says the hooker is more likely to make a comeback after next week’s bye, as is James Fisher-Harris (hamstring). Isaah Yeo (ankle) will be named and is expected to play.
Raiders: Forwards Shannon Boyd and Dunamis Lui (knee) are both out. Luke Bateman (hand) and Dave Taylor (chicken pox) are the likely inclusions.
EELS V COWBOYS
Saturday 10 June, 7.30pm TIO Stadium, Darwin
Eels: Anyone’s guess. Corey Norman (knee) is a chance to return. Kaysa Pritchard (concussion) may be forced to sit out following a string of heavy knocks. David Gower (broken hand) and Josh Hoffman (knee) are certain omissions. Tim Mannah (ribs) and Siosaia Vave (calf) are expected to return after being late withdrawals. Nathan Brown (ribs) will play once again with the aid of a needle.
Cowboys: Playmaker Johnathan Thurston (shoulder) is expected to be named on the extended bench but is only an outside chance of playing. Justin O’Neill (concussion) returns, with Javid Bowen to drop out.
TIGERS V ROOSTERS
Sunday 11 June, 4.00pm Campbelltown Stadium
Tigers: Sauaso Sue (suspension) returns, likely in place of JJ Felise. Chris Lawrence (hamstring) is out. SuperCoaches hope young gun Esan Marsters is promoted to the starting side. Luke Brooks (hamstring) is set to return in the halves in place of Jack Littlejohn.
Roosters: Winger Daniel Tupou has been cleared of a serious groin injury and is set to play.
There were fears Tupou was headed for a stint on the sidelines after he hobbled off early in the second half of the Roosters’ 18-16 win over Brisbane on Saturday.
But scans have confirmed the former NSW winger suffered a minor groin strain.
Halfback Mitchell Pearce (concussion) returns in place of Connor Watson. (groin) made it through just 46 minutes on the weekend, but has been cleared of serious injury and is expected to play.
BULLDOGS V DRAGONS
Monday 12 June, 4.00pm ANZ Stadium
Bulldogs: Canterbury welcome back star trio Brett Morris (knee), Josh Reynolds (hamstring) and James Graham (neck). Marcelo Montoya drops out for Morris on the wing. Matt Frawley moves to the bench for Reynolds, with Craig Garvey to drop out. Sam Kasiano drops to the interchange for Graham, with Francis Tualau relegated from the 17.
Dragons: Origin forward Tyson Frizell (ribs) has been cleared of a fracture, but remains in doubt with cartilage damage.
