In a diagnosis that will rock Gold Coast, star player Kieran Foran has been ruled out for 10 to 12 weeks with injury.
Foran partially ruptured his biceps during Saturday’s trial match win against the Dolphins in Redcliffe.
Titans officials who hoped the injury was minor have been left shattered.
Foran’s injury occurred when his arm was dragged back in a tackle and he was immediately iced.
He should return by round six at the latest when the Titans travel to Wollongong to face St George Illawarra on April 11.
Gold Coast has a Round 1 bye before opening its season against Canterbury at Belmore on March 16.
FORAN: I’LL BE BACK
Foran, 34, said the injury wouldn’t be the end of him in what is expected to be his final NRL season.
“It won’t be the end of me. I’ve committed to this year and I’m sticking strong to that,” Foran told the Titans.
“I’ve gotten pretty good at dealing with these setbacks.
“If it is worst case scenario and it’s surgery (that’s required), I’ll get that done, knuckle down with my rehab and then attack the backend of the year.”
Kieran Foran went off with an arm injury in the 1st half & reportedly âfelt a bit of a tearâ in his bicep.

Mechanism brings clear concern for biceps partial tear/rupture considering traumatic nature (high force), very lucky if he avoids a multi-week absence even with Round 1 bye pic.twitter.com/GaIWoIc45H
Foran transitioned to a middle service role during the pre-season to allow Jayden Campbell and AJ Brimson to combine in the halves.
The new partnership looked sharp in the 26-18 win against the Dolphins.
“They were super. The entire spine... the nine, seven, six and one were outstanding,” Foran said.
“The way they connected out there, they’ve been doing it all pre-season and they’re just the excitement machines.
“You could just see tonight with the style of footy they were able to play off the cuff and they just allowed their natural ability of skill and speed to take over at times which was super impressive.
“They’re going to play an instrumental role in the outcome of our season and they’re all up for it.”
