The SuperCoach Hub and I are excited to reveal our Consensus Team for the 2023 SC pre-season.
The SuperCoach Hub is a Discord server that has everything you need for the SuperCoach season.
Team news, injury updates, podcast links, player polls, team analysis, general SC chat, competitions, games and more. We are starting our third season now and have already built up an awesome community for all players.

To create our Consensus Team, a poll was made for each position and the community was asked to select the players currently in their team. A dual position player was only to be picked where they are currently selected in their team. I had 140 people respond and this is the team we have come up with.
HOOKERS
Brandon Smith $478.2k (136 votes)
Harry Grant $816.5k (106 votes)
Likely to be the most popular Hooker combination to start the season. Smith lost his starting role at the Storm last year resulting in a 23 point drop in average. With a starting role locked in at the Roosters, “The Cheese” presents great value. Grant on the other hand, is the top dog in the position and many coaches will lock him long term, despite the price tag.
Worthy mentions:
Soni Luke $234.8k (23 votes)
Tanah Boyd $384.6k (22 votes)
Decent roles going forward and should make some cash, but, is it worth skipping Smith/Grant to earn that cash?
FRONT ROW
Franklin Pele $216.1k (77 votes)
Daniel Saifiti $484k (61 votes)
Stefano Utoikamanu $319.2k (59 votes)
Davvy Moale $234.8k (56 votes)
Looking at the selections here in the front row, it is obvious that saving money is our priority. Pele, Uto and Moale all depend on having the minutes available, so keep an eye on how the bench lines up in each of those teams. Saifiti is the only mid-ranger to make the side and presents value due to an injury affected 2022 (13 point drop in average). Add in the departures of Klemmer and Barnett, Saifiti becomes the new leader of the pack.
Worthy mentions:
Christian Welch $464k (48 votes)
Jack Hetherington $266.6k (42 votes)
Both present value and should have increased output this season.
BACK ROW
J’maine Hopgood $298.8k (136 votes)
Luke Garner $435.1k (111 votes)
David Fifita $689.8k (101 votes)
Josh Schuster $241.2k (89 votes)
Eliesa Katoa $411.1k (60 votes)
Trey Mooney $234.8k (49 votes)
The Hub have once again opted for value in the back row. Cheapies like Hopgood and Schuster have earned starting roles for their sides. I see these two fighting it out for cheapie of the year.
Garner and Katoa are both eyeing off an edge in their new teams, with the potential to earn some cash from their mid range prices.
Then we have Fifita. Deemed to have had a poor season last year, yet still managed a healthy 66 average. While that was down from his 85 average the year before, having Verrills and Foran guiding the team will hopefully get the best from him.
Trey Mooney is looking at a bench role at the Raiders and with Elliott/Sutton departures, likely some minutes available for the 20 year old.
Worthy mentions:
Shawn Blore $234.8k (42 votes)
Ray Stone $246.9k (35 votes)
Adam Elliott $564.5k (29 votes)
Elliott scores a good role at the Knights playing lock, while Blore/Stone are TLT dependant picks.
HALFBACK
Nathan Cleary $841k (137 votes)
Nicho Hynes $902.6k (82 votes)
The Hub is well and truly loading up here in the HB position. These are the two most expensive halves in the game, yet are worth every penny. Being the main controllers of their respective sides as well as being goal kickers, means they both accumulate points in multiple ways. You can look at their score at half time and be shocked that they have top scored, without seeming to have done much at all. Love the double stack here.
Worthy mentions:
Tanah Boyd $384.6 (36 votes)
Sam Walker $623.9k (20 votes)
You can save some money with these picks, but again, is it worth the risk of leaving out the top guys?
FIVE EIGHTH
Adam Doueihi $624.6k (112 votes)
Matt Burton $594.5k (78 votes)
The salary cap takes another hit in the five-eighth position. The Tigers and the Bulldogs both seem to be on the up and coaches are looking to benefit from that.
Doueihi has a much improved forward pack, allowing him to get on the front foot more often.
Burton now has Kikau and The Fox on his left, creating a potent attacking edge. Did I mention that they are both big bodied ball runners that kick goals? Well, that helps too.
Worthy mentions:
Josh Schuster $241.2k (59 votes)
Cameron Munster $848.3k (21 votes)
Munster is always a good option, but we preferred Schuster in 2RF.
CENTRE/WING
Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad $327.1k (111 votes)
Alofiana Khan-Pereira $200.8k (109 votes)
Paul Alamoti $200.8k (81 votes)
Hayze Perham $370.9k (68 votes)
Tommy Talau $301.6k (58 votes)
Izaac Thompson $336.7k (55 votes)
Valentine Holmes $724.6k (51 votes)
CTW is always a position to save money to start a season, this year is no different. It’s volatility creates a lot of risk and opportunity. Picking the right ones is the tricky part. A fullback available in the CTW is gold in SuperCoach and our team has CNK plus Perham as starters this year. A couple of cheapies have presented themselves, with Khan-Pereira looking more positive than Alamoti at this stage. Talau missed the whole season last year and comes in at a very cheap price in an improved line-up.
Worthy mentions:
Reimis Smith $316.8k (48 votes)
Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow $330.2k (46 votes)
Tyrell Sloan $298.6k (44 votes)
Sloan and Hammer are 2 more fullbacks available in CTW, but are both low floor options.
Smith is back from injury and priced at a discount.
FULLBACKS
Tom Trbojevic $577.7k (107 votes)
James Tedesco $836.3k (75 votes)
My boy Tommy Turbo is first picked and that comes down to being priced at an average in the 50s. This is the guy who went 143ppg in 2021. The bye in Rd 2 is a concern, but that price is too juicy for me to resist. We don’t need to say much in regards to Teddy. Gun player in a gun team and has a couple of easier games to start the season, making him a good early Captain option (sorry fellow Dolphin fans).
Worthy mentions:
Latrell Mitchell $889.1k (59 votes)
Scott Drinkwater $746.6k (26 votes)
Latrell is very expensive and has a tough draw. Does it matter? Drinkwater has a great draw, in a good team, but is the ceiling/consistency there?
Vice-captain Selection
Nathan Cleary (61 votes)
Harry Grant (19 votes)
Captain Selection
James Tedesco (54 votes)
Nathan Cleary (50 votes)
Based on the selections above, I have put the team together with only one hiccup. Salary was a little short for Val Holmes (51 votes), so he was subbed out for the next in line, which was Reimis Smith (48 votes).
What do you think of our team?
I would just like to thank Tommy Sangster and the crew for this opportunity. It is much appreciated by both myself and the SC Hub community. Cheers legends.
I do feel for you Rob Sutherland, word limits are rough, lol. Have an amazing season everyone
