The finale, finito, the coupé de grace.

making, to getting your best starting 17 on the park with 3-4 premium backup options and as

much positional flexibility as possible. Sounds easy, right?

The final verdict on the cheapies and ‘nuffs’ of relevance to navigate your way home to victory in H2H leagues or that $50,000 overall prize money!

Before we hop in to it, a quick shoutout to the Cheapie Bible class of 2019 - arguably the

best there has EVER been. I mean, listen to these names…

All of whom started in Cheapie Bible price range, and there’s plenty more too. Quite remarkable how lucky we have been.

Now, settle in for an important edition of the Cheapie Bible. Here we go…

FINAL VERDICT

Shane Wright 2RF (NQC | $363,800) - 65 points

You are looking at the Cowboys’ full 80-minute edge back rower right here. Yep, 80 minutes in ALL of the Cowboys’ last three matches for scores of 67, 66, and 65 points - entirely in base stats.

That’s GUN like behaviour, very impressive. So, if you’re in desperate need of a cheap solution as 20th/21st man for the run home whilst low on trades, it looks as though Wright could be as safe as it comes. BE of just 5 this weekend so it’s now or never.

VERDICT: BUY. Have a player who is nosediving in value, or injured and out for the year? This sideways move may be the one that saves you in the event of carnage down the track.

Scott Drinkwater FLB (NQC | $258,000) - 43 points

Drinkwater had another solid game in the loss to the Rabbitohs, scoring his second try in three games to this point and notching 43 points in total.

Some easy matchups are coming over the next few rounds, but honestly, the most pertinent factor of Scott Drinkwater’s SuperCoach viability is the fact that you simply HAVE to have two of Trbojevic, Tedesco or RTS at fullback. STAT. It’s a real shame we didn’t get to start the season with him.

VERDICT: SELL. Yes, there’s still much more money to be made, but seriously, when I say you HAVE to have two of Turbo, Teddy or RTS - I mean it. Like, sell Jake Turbo to Shane Wright if you have to!

Moses Mbye HFB | FLB (WST | $355,100) - 67 points

Guess who’s playing well at centre, and now possesses the goal kicking duties at the Tigers…Yep, their captain, Moses Mbye. 59 and 67 points respectively the past two weeks and that is

without scoring a try - huge tackle bust numbers (20 points combined), and solid goal kicking/base stat numbers have him right in the thick of it as a cut-price option to slot in as your fourth half to play on matchups or in case of injury.

VERDICT: BUY. Plays the Knights twice, Cowboys, Bulldogs, and Dragons in the next six rounds. I like.

Brandon Wakeham HFB (BUL | $214,800) - 53 points

54 and 53 points respectively for Wakeham in his second and third NRL games, and most importantly he has looked every bit a star of the future to the eyeball test!

Two tough matchups against the Roosters and the rejuvenated Panthers in the coming weeks is far from ideal, but with a -26BE Wakeham is a lock to make cash - that is, the next time he plays, as he’s been DROPPED by the Bulldogs. Ah, fun times.

VERDICT: AVOID. Dean Pay up to his old tricks.

Jason Saab CTW (STG | $168,100) - 0 points

Here’s your Cheapie Bible smokey of the week. A man yet to debut in first grade, but a man that has a SERIOUS SuperCoach game. The 18-year-old Australian Schoolboy rep stands 195cm tall, has an insane knack for finding the try line and in less than a year has gone from SG Ball to the NRL.

In a team that welcomes back Gareth Widdop, Ben Hunt and Zac Lomax this weekend I think it is the perfect scenario for this highly touted youngster to burst onto the scene and score large.

VERDICT: WATCHLIST. Then buy in two weeks if he’s lit it up as I think he will.

Ronaldo Mulitalo had strong base stats in his second NRL game. Picture: Hagen Hopkins

Ronaldo Mulitalo CTW (SHA | $168,100) - 48 points

A second game, and a much better return than his 10-point debut with 48 points coming without a try or try assist in the game against the Warriors.

An impressive eight points in tackle busts, an effective offload, line break and 26 points in hit ups made up the score, and gives Ronaldo a BE of just 5 going into his third game this weekend against the Cowboys.

But, don’t forget the injury riddled Sharks will have their best team on the park in the near future so he likely drops out of the side in the coming weeks.

VERDICT: AVOID. Not the time for playing CTW cheapies that have the capacity to score 10 points in 80 minutes, and aren’t making HUGE cash.

Tim Lafai looks a bargain buy. Picture: Mark Kolbe
Tim Lafai looks a bargain buy. Picture: Mark Kolbe

Tim Lafai CTW (STG | $235,500) - 18 points

Lafai available at $235k, that can’t be right can it?! This is a guy who has had a season long average of 64.8PPG just two seasons ago!!

Whilst Lafai hasn’t had the greatest of seasons to this point, matchups in the coming weeks against the Rabbitohs, Eels and Titans certainly isn’t a SuperCoach nightmare for outside backs… Particularly with the return of Gareth Widdop, Ben Hunt and Zac Lomax to add some impetus.

VERDICT: BUY*. If injuries strike, you can go straight sideways from Corey Allan to Tim Lafai as an upside/matchup move down the stretch.

Jack Stockwell FRF (GCT | $206,700) - 29 points

Stockwell played 60 minutes last weekend for 43 minutes, which perked the interest of some Cheapie Bible folk. But, the change of coach hasn’t worked in his favour as the minutes went back to just the 29 this weekend against the Storm. Stockwell has kept his nice PPM of 0.9-1.1 most weeks, and has been named to start once again against the Broncos.

VERDICT: AVOID. A base-price playing option in the forwards is worth considering, but I don’t like his chances of staying there.

Herbie Farnworth CTW (BRO | $168,100) & Xavier Coates CTW (BRO | $168,100)

The two talented outside backs that burst on to the scene for the Broncos in the same week just three rounds ago, have both found themselves out of the team now, so they have become ‘nuffs’ like Corey Allan effectively.

VERDICT: AVOID/HOLD. They’re out for now, but a little too close to the team to be 100% sure you don’t have to worry about the AE nightmare here, but you will only have to do so if either are picked again.

Nathan Peats HOK (GCT | $295,300) - 72 points

The NSW Origin hooker is fit, playing good footy despite the Titans getting thumped on the reg, and last weekend played the full 80 minutes with Mitch Rein dropping out of the 17

altogether.

Yep, 72 points in 80 minutes with a try assist, and notably a massive 44 tackles. Now, I think it is extremely obvious that you should be running with two of Cook, Smith or McInnes ASAP, but this is your last chance at a cheap-ish option to stepping stone your way to one of them.

VERDICT: AVOID. I mean, if you’re feeling frisky you could give it a shot if he plays another 80 minute game this weekend. Be wary of the bench utility taking his minutes even though it isn’t Mitch Rein.

SuperCoach NRL: Winners & Losers - Round 19

‘NUFFS’

A Nuff, as defined by the SuperCoach Dictionary, is a player who is as far from selection in the NRL as possible, ideally has a season-long injury or playing in the UK, who will not become an AE-nightmare at any point in the future. They shall ALWAYS possess dual position to add flexibility for injury cover, and are also very handy for VC-loophole later down the track.

NOTE: Dragons play a LOT of the remaining rounds as the last match on a Sunday which is priceless for loophole purposes.
