Expert SuperCoach analysis of club team lists and injuries ahead of round 8

SUPERCOACHES received a massive boost in the round eight teams, with popular cash cows Brenton Lawrence and Matt Parcell named to return.

NRL SuperCoach: Winners and Losers - Round Eight

SUPERCOACHES received a massive boost in the round eight teams, with popular cash cows Brenton Lawrence and Matt Parcell named to return.

Lawrence (hip) and Parcell (hamstring) left plenty of SuperCoaches in the lurch last week after being shock withdrawals.

Parcell was originally slated to return next round, but Manly officials are hopeful he will be passed fit as the club benefits from an 11-day turnaround.

In other SuperCoach news from the round eight NRL team announcements:

* Cheapie option Josh Addo-Carr retained his wing spot at the Tigers, with David Nofoaluma (knee) still sidelined. The pacey winger notched an impressive 61 on debut and will come into cheapie contention next week;

* Storm young gun Suliasi Vunivalu bowed out of cheapie contention for now after being dropped to accommodate the return of Young Tonumaipea (calf). Vunivalu produced a two-try 72 on debut and will come into cheapie contention down the track;

* Penrith young gun Te Marie Martin is set for another price rise after James Segeyaro (broken arm) missed selection, despite being close to a comeback. SuperCoach Gold predicts Martin will top $150,000 in price rises this week;

* Popular cash cow Ashley Taylor (concussion) was named despite being knocked out last week;

* Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (ACL) is out for the season, with Tuimoala Lolohea to play fullback at the Warriors.

Matt Parcell is due back from a hamstring injury.

BRONCOS VS RABBITOHS

7.50pm Friday at Suncorp Stadium

Broncos: 1 Darius Boyd 2 Corey Oates 3 Jack Reed 4 James Roberts 5 Jordan Kahu 6 Anthony Milford 7 Ben Hunt 8 Josh McGuire 9 Andrew McCullough 10 Adam Blair 11 Alex Glenn 12 Matt Gillett 13 Corey Parker (c). Interchange: 14 Jarrod Wallace 15 Sam Thaiday 16 Joe Ofahengaue 17 Kodi Nikorima

Ins: None

Outs: None

Other unavailables: Lachlan Maranta (Knee, Round 11), Tom Opacic (Fractured eye socket, Round 11), Joe Boyce (Shoulder, Indefinite)

Comment: No changes. Anthony Milford is an absolute must-have this week for those who don’t already own him. SuperCoach Gold predicts his price will rise by over $100,000 in the next five weeks, so buy now or forever hold your peace. After a slow start, Ben Hunt has averaged 98 in the last three weeks and has now scored the 10th most points of any player. Both Hunt and Milford loom as VC options this week. Alex Glenn (hip) did not train on Tuesday, while hat-trick hero Corey Oates (knee) was forced to do a solo session. Both are expected to play.

Rabbitohs: 1 Greg Inglis 2 Bryson Goodwin 3 Kirisome Auva’a 4 Hymel Hunt 5 Aaron Gray 6 Luke Keary 7 Adam Reynolds 8 Tom Burgess 9 Cameron McInnes 10 David Tyrrell 11 Christopher Grevsmuhl 12 Kyle Turner 13 Sam Burgess. Interchange: 14 Paul Carter 15 Jason Clark 16 Nathan Brown 17 George Burgess 18 Damien Cook

Ins: Damien Cook

Outs: None

Other unavailables: John Sutton (Pectoral, Round 18), Zane Musgrove (Wrist, Indefinite), Angus Crichton (Groin, Indefinite), Alex Johnston (Hamstring, Round 9)

Comment: No changes to the 17, with Damien Cook added as 18th man. Sam Burgess has struggled since his neck injury, but is still averaging 73 and remains a must-have. It’s definitely time to cash in Hymel Hunt, who dropped $18,100 last week and is set for another $7,700 drop this week. Greg Inglis (concussion) is expected to be cleared.

BULLDOGS VS TITANS

3pm Saturday at ANZ Stadium

Bulldogs: 1 Will Hopoate 2 Curtis Rona 3 Josh Morris 4 Kerrod Holland 5 Sam Perrett 6 Josh Reynolds 7 Moses Mbye 8 Aiden Tolman 9 Michael Lichaa 10 James Graham 11 Josh Jackson 12 Tony Williams 13 Greg Eastwood. Interchange: 14 Sam Kasiano 15 Tim Browne 16 David Klemmer 17 Adam Elliot 19 Lloyd Perrett 21 Craig Garvey

Ins: Lloyd Perrett, Craig Garvey

Outs: None

Other unavailables: Chase Stanley (Hamstring, Round 10), Brett Morris (Knee, Round 16)

Comment: Kerrod Holland made $78,500 last week - the biggest single round rise of any cheapie this year. He is set for another $71,400 rise this week, so it’s still worth jumping on if you somehow missed the boat. Holland’s performances have been so strong that he’s a massive chance to retain his spot even when Chase Stanley (hamstring, round 10) returns. With goalkicking duties, a great bye schedule and strong base stats, he may even become a keeper. James Graham and Aiden Tolman return to the starting side after being benched due to the five-day turnaround last week. Both loom as key bye purchases, but it’s still too early to move on borderline keepers.

Titans: 1 William Zillman 2 Anthony Don 3 Josh Hoffman 4 Nene Macdonald 5 David Mead 6 Tyrone Roberts 7 Ashley Taylor 8 David Shillington 9 Nathan Friend 10 Ryan James 11 Zeb Taia 12 Chris McQueen 13 Greg Bird Interchange: 14 Luke Douglas 15 Leivaha Pulu 16 Agnatius Paasi 17 Kierran Moseley 18 Eddy Pettybourne

Ins: Greg Bird (suspension), Kierran Moseley

Outs: Daniel Mortimer (hamstring, round 10)

Other unavailables: Oshae Tuiasau (MCL, Round 9), Matt Srama (Knee, Season), David Hala (Elbow, Round 12), Kane Elgey (ACL, Season), Ryan Simpkins (Broken jaw, Round 9)

Comment: Greg Bird (suspension) returns with Eddy Pettybourne pushing back to 18th man. Kierran Moseley replaces bench hooker Daniel Mortimer (hamstring, round 10). Ryan James has snuck under the radar to notch the ninth most points of any player. He is a massive POD at 3.9 per cent ownership, but a poor bye schedule and chequered injury history make for a risky buy. Ashley Taylor (concussion), Leivaha Pulu (ribs) and Pettybourne (broken finger) must all prove their fitness. Taylor (BE 13) hasn’t quite peaked and would ideally be held for a few more weeks, but may need to make way for those chasing Anthony Milford or James Tedesco.

ROUND 8 SUPERCOACH PODCAST

RAIDERS VS TIGERS

5.30pm Saturday at GIO Stadium

Raiders: 1 Jack Wighton 2 Edrick Lee 3 Jarrod Croker 4 Joseph Leilua 5 Jordan Rapana 6 Sam Williams 7 Aidan Sezer 8 Shannon Boyd 9 Josh Hodgson 10 Frank-Paul Nuuausala 11 Josh Papalii 12 Elliot Whitehead 13 Shaun Fensom. Interchange: 14 Kurt Baptiste 15 Luke Bateman 16 Paul Vaughan 17 Joseph Tapine 18 Clay Priest 19 Jarrad Kennedy 20 Mitch Barnett

Ins: Clay Priest, Jarrad Kennedy, Mitch Barnett

Outs: None

Other unavailables: Sia Soliola (Broken arm, Round 11), Blake Austin (Hamstring, Round 9), Jeff Lima (Hand, Round 10)

Comment: Mounties have the bye so coach Ricky Stuart has decided to name some new faces for a 20-man squad. Jarrod Croker, the best centre in SuperCoach over the last two seasons, has produced a few poor weeks and now has a break even of 113. He is predicted to drop to $300,000 in two weeks - when he’ll make a very juicy bye purchase. Joseph Leilua (2.5 per cent ownership) and Jordan Rapana (1.2 per cent) have rivalled Croker’s 2016 output and loom as serious PODs for the byes. Luke Bateman has been spoken about as a cheapie, but he looms as an auto emergency nightmare after averaging just 23 over his first two games, while Sia Soliola (broken arm, round 11) and Jeff Lima (hand, round 10) are due back soon.

Tigers: 1 James Tedesco 2 Josh Addo-Carr 3 Nathan Milone 4 Kevin Naiqama 5 Jordan Rankin 6 Mitchell Moses 7 Luke Brooks 8 Ava Seumanufagai 9 Robbie Farah 10 Tim Grant 11 Curtis Sironen 12 Chris Lawrence 13 Sauaso Sue. Interchange: 14 Josh Aloiai 15 Dene Halatau 16 Kyle Lovett 17 JJ Felise 18 Joel Edwards

Ins: Sauaso Sue (concussion)

Outs: None

Other unavailables: Matt Ballin (ACL, Round 10), Tim Simona (Suspension, Round 9), Aaron Woods (Ankle, Round 11), David Nofoaluma (Knee, TBA)

Comment: Cheapie Josh Addo-Carr has retained his wing spot following an exciting 61 on debut. However, SuperCoaches should definitely wait for next week, especially with David Nofoaluma (knee, TBA) waiting in the wings and Justin Hunt (back) returning for his first match of the year in NSW Cup this week. Blinding speed aside, Addo-Carr looms as an exciting cheapie due to likely coverage in round 12, especially if James Tedesco makes Origin. Tedesco has a break even of 107 this week. Sauaso Sue (concussion) returns, with Dene Halatau moving to the bench and Joel Edwards dropping to 18th man.

COWBOYS VS EELS

7.30pm Saturday at 1300 Smiles Stadium

Cowboys: 1 Lachlan Coote 2 Kyle Feldt 3 Justin O’Neill 4 Kane Linnett 5 Antonio Winterstein 6 Michael Morgan 7 Johnathan Thurston 8 Matt Scott 9 Jake Granville 10 James Tamou 11 Gavin Cooper 12 Ethan Lowe 13 Jason Taumalolo. Interchange: 14 Rory Kostjasyn 15 Patrick Kaufusi 16 Scott Bolton 17 Ben Hannant

Ins: None

Outs: None

Other unavailables: Ray Thompson (Broken leg, Round 10)

Comment: No changes. Ethan Lowe has scored the sixth most points of any player, but is owned by just 13 per cent. He has a strong bye schedule, but law of averages says the attacking stats will dry up (he’s scored four tries and an assist in the opening rounds). At almost $400,000, there are better value buys.

Eels: 1 Michael Gordon 2 Semi Radradra 3 Michael Jennings 4 Brad Takairangi 5 Clinton Gutherson 6 Corey Norman 7 Kieran Foran 8 Junior Paulo 9 Nathan Peats 10 Daniel Alvaro 11 Manu Ma’u 12 Beau Scott 13 Tepai Moeroa. Interchange: 14 Isaac De Gois 15 Peni Terepo 16 Danny Wicks 17 Kenny Edwards

Ins: None

Outs: None

Other unavailables: Matt Woods (Hamstring, Round 9), Luke Kelly (ACL, Season), Bevan French (Elbow, Round 10), Anthony Watmough (Knee, Indefinite), Tim Mannah (Shoulder, Round 9)

Comment: No changes, but Tepai Moeroa (bone bruising to shin) and Junior Paulo (concussion) will need to pass fitness tests. Nathan Peats (BE 85), Semi Radradra (BE 78) and Manu Ma’u (BE 67) are all set for more price drops ahead of the byes. However, those wanting to take a punt on Corey Norman (BE -12) must move now as he is set for a $38,400 rise.

SHARKS VS PANTHERS

4pm Sunday at Southern Cross Stadium

Sharks: 1 Ben Barba 2 Sosaia Feki 3 Jack Bird 4 Ricky Leutele 5 Valentine Holmes 6 James Maloney 7 Chad Townsend 8 Andrew Fifita 9 Michael Ennis 10 Sam Tagataese 11 Jayson Bukuya 12 Wade Graham 13 Paul Gallen. Interchange: 14 Gerard Beale 15 Chris Heighington 16 Matt Prior 17 Luke Lewis

Ins: Luke Lewis (concussion/suspension)

Outs: Joseph Paulo

Other unavailables: Connor Tracey (ACL, Season)

Comment: Luke Lewis (suspension/concussion) returns on the bench, with Jayson Bukuya retaining his starting spot and Joseph Paulo dropping off the bench. Ben Barba is approaching keeper status, having averaged 58 for the year and predicted to rise above the $400,000 mark in the next few weeks. Discounting Paul Gallen’s injury-affected round one, he has averaged 81 this season, but is owned by just 3.7 per cent. Gallen is not an option due to Origin and injury history, but will you dare jump on after the byes if he’s still fit and firing?

Panthers: 1 Matt Moylan (c) 2 Josh Mansour 3 Waqa Blake 4 Peta Hiku 5 Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 6 Te Maire Martin 7 Jamie Soward 8 Leilani Latu 9 Peter Wallace 10 Reagan Campbell-Gillard 11 Bryce Cartwright 12 Isaah Yeo 13 Trent Merrin. Interchange: 14 Tyrone Peachey 15 Sam McKendry 16 Suaia Matagi 17 James Fisher-Harris 20 Elijah Taylor 21 Jeremey Latimore

Ins: Elijah Taylor, Jeremey Latimore

Outs: None

Other unavailables: Dean Whare (Calf, Round 9), Viliame Kikau (Ankle, Indefinite), James Segeyaro (Broken arm, Round 9)

Comment: No changes to the 17, with Elijah Taylor and Jeremy Latimore added to an extended bench. Sam McKendry has been named despite facing a one-game ban. James Segeyaro (broken arm) and Dean Whare (calf) again miss out, but keep an eye on Late Mail as both could come into contention. With Segeyaro not named, Te Maire Martin is set to soar by another $40,000, which will take him into the exclusive $150,000-plus club in terms of price gains. Only three players have made more than $150,000 this year - Ashley Taylor ($165,100), Cody Walker ($155,500) and Matt Parcell ($152,600). Don’t rage trade Josh Mansour - he is a keeper despite two poor scores in a row. Bryce Cartwright was forced to make 42 tackles on Monday (missing six). The barrage dramatically affected Cartwright’s attacking stats - he made just seven runs and didn’t notch a single offload or tackle bust. He also made three errors and conceded a penalty.

KNIGHTS VS SEA EAGLES

2pm Monday at Hunter Stadium

Knights: 1 Dane Gagai 2 Nathan Ross 3 Sione Mata’utia 4 Pat Mata’utia 5 Akuila Uate 6 Jarrod Mullen 7 Trent Hodkinson (c) 8 Sam Mataora 9 Danny Levi 10 Daniel Saifiti 11 Tariq Sims (c) 12 Korbin Sims 13 Jeremy Smith (c) Interchange: 14 Tyler Randell 15 Josh King 16 Jacob Saifiti 17 David Bhana 18 Micky Paea

Ins: Danny Levi (back), Jeremy Smith (knee), Mickey Paea

Outs: Jack Stockwell, Pauli Pauli (suspension, round 9)

Other unavailables: Chanel Mata’utia (Knee, Round 16), James McManus (Concussion, Season), Kade Snowden (Various, Indefinite), Jake Mamo (Ankle, Round 9), Robbie Rochow (Broken arm, Round 13)

Comment: Danny Levi (back) and Jeremy Smith (knee) return, while Mickey Paea has been added to the bench. Pauli Pauli (suspension, round 9) and Jack Stockwell drop out. Jacob Saifiti (BE 55) is ripe for the selling this week at a $109,000 profit. Pat Mata’utia continues to leak cash for those who held (he faces his third week in a row with a break even in the 50s). Jarrod Mullen, Tyler Randell and Nathan Ross must pass concussion tests.

Sea Eagles: 1 Brett Stewart, 2 Brayden Wiliame, 3 Jamie Lyon, 4 Steve Matai, 5 Tom Trbojevic, 6 Dylan Walker, 7 Apisai Koroisau, 8 Darcy Lussick, 9 Matt Parcell, 10 Nate Myles, 11 Tom Symonds, 12 Martin Taupau, 13 Jake Trbojevic. Interchange: 14 Lewis Brown, 15 Addin Fonua-Blake 16 Brenton Lawrence, 17 17 Siosia Vave 18 Blake Leary

Ins: Brayden Wiliame, Matt Parcell, Brenton Lawrence

Outs: Jorge Taufua (broken collarbone, round 14), Josh Starling

Other unavailables: Jamie Buhrer (Broken thumb, Round 9), Daly Cherry-Evans (Ankle, Round 9), Tim Moltzen (Knee, Indefinite), Isaac John (Pectoral, Round 16), Jorge Taufua (Broken collarbone, Round 14), Jayden Hodges (ACL, Season)

Comment: In massive news for SuperCoaches, hooker Matt Parcell (hamstring) and prop Brenton Lawrence (hip) have been named to return after being late withdrawals last week. Brayden Wiliame replaces Jorge Taufua (broken collarbone, round 14) on the bench. Josh Starling drops out of the side.

NRL SuperCoach: Buy, Hold Sell - Round Eight

DRAGONS VS ROOSTERS

4pm Monday at Allianz Stadium

Dragons: 1 Josh Dugan 2 Kalifa Faifai Loa 3 Euan Aitken 4 Timoteo Lafai 5 Jason Nightingale 6 Gareth Widdop 7 Josh McCrone 8 Leeson Ah Mau 9 Mitch Rein 10 Mike Cooper 11 Tyson Frizell 12 Joel Thompson 13 Jack de Belin. Interchange: 14 Russell Packer 15 Will Matthews 16 Dunamis Lui 17 Siliva Havili

Ins: None

Outs: None

Other unavailables: Dylan Farrell (Back, Indefinite), Yaw Kiti Glymin (Hamstring, Indefinite), Ben Creagh (Knee, Indefinite), Benji Marshall (Hamstring, Round 9), Mose Masoe (ACL, Season), Euan Aitken (Hamstring, Indefinite)

Comment: No changes, with Benji Marshall (hamstring) again missing out. Euan Aitken (hamstring) has been named, but is in serious doubt. Aside from Test star Josh Dugan, Aitken has been the Dragons’ best back in 2016, averaging 52 almost entirely in base stats prior to an injury-induced zero last week. He is now predicted to drop by $42,000 in the next two weeks and will be a bye round bargain at under $250,000. Likewise, Gareth Widdop has dropped below the $260,000 and looms as a great Origin-period POD at just 2.2 per cent ownership. Jack De Belin has averaged almost 70 in the last five rounds. He’s the man if you’re going to jump the gun on a bye round forward.

Roosters: 1 Latrell Mitchell 2 Daniel Tupou 3 Brendan Elliot 4 Blake Ferguson 5 Shaun Kenny-Dowall 6 Jayden Nikorima 7 Jackson Hastings 8 Sam Moa 9 Jake Friend (c) 10 Dylan Napa 11 Mitchell Aubusson 12 Aidan Guerra 13 Isaac Liu. Interchange: 14 Kane Evans 15 Mitchell Frei 16 Eloni Vunakece 17 Connor Watson 18 Abraham Papalii

Ins: Abraham Papalii

Outs: None

Other unavailables: Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (ACL, Round 9), Mitchell Pearce (Disciplinary, Round 9), Boyd Cordner (Pectoral, Round 9), Vincent Leuluai (Knee, Round 10), Dale Copley (Pectoral, Round 20), Ian Henderson (Broken leg, Indefinite), Sio Suia Taukieaho (Knee, Round 12)

Comment: Unchanged 17, with Abraham Papalii added as 18th man. Boyd Cordner (pectoral) and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (ACL) have missed selection, but are approaching returns. Jake Friend notched an enormous 119 on Monday and is now the best hooker in SuperCoach by an average of almost 10 points per game. However, with Mitchell Pearce (disciplinary) due back next round, expect Jayden Nikorima to be used as a bench hooker, which would cut Friend’s minutes. Jackson Hastings (BE 45) has peaked, but he has showed plenty in 2016 and may even be a hold for the round 15 and 18 byes. Latrell Mitchell finally produced a massive score after threatening for weeks.

STORM VS WARRIORS

7pm Monday at AAMI Park

Storm: 1 Cameron Munster 2 Young Tonumaipea 3 Richard Kennar 4 Ben Hampton 5 Marika Koroibete 6 Blake Green 7 Cooper Cronk 8 Jesse Bromwich 9 Cameron Smith (c) 10 Jordan McLean 11 Kevin Proctor 12 Tohu Harris 13 Dale Finucane. Interchange: 14 Kenny Bromwich 15 Tim Glasby 16 Felise Kaufusi 17 Nelson Asofa-Solomona

Ins: Young Tonumaipea (calf)

Outs: Suliasi Vunivalu

Other unavailables: Billy Slater (Shoulder, Season), Will Chambers (Fractured foot, Round 19), Jeremy Hawkins (Hamstring, Round 13), Tony Tumusa (Ankle, Round 11), Curtis Scott (Broken leg, Round 11), Tim Glasby (Concussion, Round 8)

Comment: Rookie winger Suliasi Vunivalu has bowed out of cheapie contention for now, with Young Tonumaipea (calf) named to return. However, Vunivalu produced a sensational 72 on debut and is definitely one for the watchlist. Richard Kennar looms as the cheapie of the round. He has a break even of -16 and strong job security following the long-term injury to Will Chambers. However, he is far from the perfect buy. Kennar is above bottom dollar at $181,000 and won’t play round 12. The Stalwarts will skip Kennar and hope Josh Addo-Carr emerges as a cheapie next week. Cameron Munster is the fourth most popular buy this week - and for good reason. He has averaged 65 since moving to fullback, despite only scoring one try in that time. The round 12 bye is an obvious obstacle, but he offers great coverage for round 15 after being banned from Origin. Jesse Bromwich has scored the third most points of any player this year.

Warriors: 1 Tuimoala Lolohea 2 David Fusitua 3 Blake Ayshford 4 Solomone Kata 5 Manu Vatuvei 6 Thomas Leuluai 7 Shaun Johnson 8 Sam Lisone 9 Issac Luke 10 Ben Matulino 11 Bodene Thompson 12 Ryan Hoffman 13 Simon Mannering. Interchange: 14 Jonathan Wright 15 Jacob Lillyman 16 Charlie Gubb 17 Ligi Sao

Ins: Manu Vatuvei (hamstring)

Outs: Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (ACL, season)

Other unavailables: Ben Henry (Knee, Indefinite), Nathaniel Roache (Ankle, Indefinite)

Comment: Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (ACL) is out for the season. Tuimoala Lolohea will play fullback, with Thomas Leuluai coming into the halves. Manu Vatuvei (hamstring) returns on the wing, pushing Jonathan Wright to the bench. Simon Mannering is back playing lock and available this week at a $72,200 discount on his starting price due to three games on the edge while Bodene Thompson was out.
