A MILFORD masterclass, a boom cheapie and another avalanche of injuries. It’s all in Dave Von Kotze’s SuperCoach wrap.
Gareth Widdop (91) – provided some much needed form for the 2 per cent of SuperCoaches who sit with the English international in their team. Widdop will offer cover for the first two bye rounds and will not move too far from his current $260,000 price as he still didn’t reach his breakeven of 99 despite scoring a try with a line-break, setting up another, kicking 3 goals, a field goal and making 16 tackles.
Ryan James (80) – has led the Titans from up-front and been one of the top SuperCoach forwards so far this year. James played the full-eighty and scored at a point per minute with a base stat extravaganza that included 20 hit-ups, 50 tackles and an offload that should be upgraded to effective when updates roll in.
Jack De Belin (73) – was unlucky not to score last week but received the rub of the green against the Titans when he collected a kick which re-bounded off the goal posts to score under the posts. De Belin’s score may have been inflated by his try but his base stats and minutes were still great making 47 tackles, 14 hit-ups in 77 minutes of game time.
Sam Perrett (126) – those SuperCoaches who selected Sam Perrett for Perfect Eight came one step closer to this week’s $55,000 jackpot when the Bulldogs winger broke the line on three occasions to cross for two tries, set up another try and threw the last pass to build his massive score, which will secure a $29,000 price rise.
Kerrod Holland (93) – for the first time in the 2016 season so far we have been blessed with a cheapie that will send our salary caps headed in the right direction. Holland gave his breakeven of -70 an absolute shellacking and will see an initial price rise of over $84,000 this week after scoring two tries with line-breaks, kicking 2 goals and making 24 tackles. Amazingly, this young gun is only owned by 13% of SuperCoaches.
Tuimoala Lolohea (88) – in a throw-back to 2015, one of last year’s popular cash cows could find his way back into thousands of teams if he can replicate the form he showed against the Bulldogs playing at five-eighth on a regular basis. Lolohea looked dangerous during his 14 carries scoring a try, throwing the last pass for another, busting seven tackles and breaking the line twice.
Shaun Johnson (78) – played his first game at halfback for the year and doesn’t look far away from one of his signature 130 point games. SJ set up three tries, made 3 line-break assists and broke the line once himself and is looking more dangerous with every game that goes by.
Anthony Milford (136) – many SuperCoaches were crunching numbers this week and making a plan to bring in Milford next week, however, the Broncos’ magician, who is in-eligible for Origin this year, will only decrease in value by $1500 after falling just 3 points short of his 139 breakeven…..wow. Milford will fly back over the $500,000 price mark in the next few weeks after scoring 3 tries, setting up another, breaking the line twice, busting six tackles and kicking a field goal.
Corey Oates (128) – a career-high SuperCoach haul from the Broncos winger thanks to a hat-trick and 4 line-breaks. Oates has been a superb purchase for his 45,985 owners, however, it would be wise for them not to put Oates in their round 12 plans with Origin selection looking more likely with every try he scores.
Ben Hunt (111) – started the season slowly but is getting his 2014 mojo back with a streak of performances that has seen him average 88 in his last three games. Hunt broke the line for a try, assisted in three others and should keep his first triple-figured score when final updates are decided on Monday afternoon.
Jordan Kahu (77) – another 2015 cash cow who could fight his way back into contention after scoring four tries in his last three games. Kahu will rise in price by around $48,000 to be valued at $282,000 and will continue to surge over the next three weeks after bagging a double and kicking 3 goals when he took over the duties from Corey Parker (59).
Euan Aitken (0) – left the field with a hamstring problem midway through the first half and didn’t return. Will see a huge drop in price and may become an option for rounds 12 and 15.
Ashley Taylor (30) – couldn’t replicate the form he showed last week with Tyrone Roberts returning from injury and controlling most of the attack. Taylor held onto the goal kicking duties and early reports suggest he will be ready to lace the boots up again next week despite leaving the field with concussion in the dying stages of the game.
Roger Tuivasa- Sheck (9) – broke the heart of 15 per cent of SuperCoaches when he left the field after only 16 minutes with an injured knee.
Adam Elliot (2) – will return to bottom dollar next round after only spending 6 minutes on the field.
Moses Mbye (31) – will drop in value by over $50,000 this week and has only averaged 29 in his last three games after being one of the highest SuperCoach scorers in the first month of the season.
Jarrod Mullen (1) – failed a concussion test after leaving the field in the first half.
Dane Gagai (15) – played the full game but struggled as did most of the Knights to post any real attacking stats.
Jacob Saifiti (18) – was given 71 minutes of game time but couldn’t produce any decent SuperCoach output. Will maintain his $220,000 price tag after only beating his breakeven by 3 points.
Pat Mata’utia (19) – continues to lose value after missing his breakeven by 26 points. Definitely decision time for owners in regards to this early season cheapie whose price is currently heading south.
