2014 NRL SuperCoach winner Dave Von Kotze reveals his top 10 SuperCoach PODs

THE first teams list Tuesday of 2016 is almost upon us but until then let’s have our first look at ‘POD Watch’ for round one and see if we can uncover a few smokies who have 10% ownership or less.

LADIES and gentlemen, the first teams list Tuesday of 2016 is all but a few hours away, so to tide you over until then, let’s have our first look at ‘POD Watch’ for round one and see if we can uncover a few smokies who have 10% ownership or less to fill your teams with. SuperCoaches won’t believe some of the talent on this list.

Ben Matulino $389,600 (8.3% ownership)

Dual position FRF/2RF who averaged 61.6 points per game in 2015. Matulino boasted a very handy PPM of 1.06 last season and could serve as a nice alternative to a few of the big name, expensive forwards.

Wade Graham $377,800 (7% ownership)

Scored three tries in his last five games for the Sharks in 2015 to finish the season strongly with a five round average of 68. Graham is a dual 2RF/5/8 who will be looking to strike up a combination with new recruit James Maloney and cause some serious damage on the Shark’s left edge attack.

Dale Finucane $318,900 (2.4% ownership)

Another dual FRF/2RF who will sit atop most of our watch lists for the first two rounds if he can maintain his 2015 PPM of 0.96. Finucane is expected to see an increase in value this season if he starts at lock for the Melbourne Storm and can increase his average game time to 60-65 minutes per game.

Greg Inglis $413,300 (7.7% ownership)

Has started the past two seasons on fire and averaged 76 for the first three games in 2015. Only available at fullback but will go into round one fresh after no representative commitments. GI has the ability to go large, scoring 153 points against the Knights in round 20 last season.

Daly Cherry- Evans $385,700 (7.8% ownership)

Starts $101,200 cheaper than Johnathan Thurston and will lead the vast majority of the Sea Eagles attack until Dylan Walker (5.1%) settles into his new role in the halves. DCE came steaming out of the blocks in 2015 averaging 75 points per game for the first five rounds but is only available at halfback.

Andrew Fifita $464,000 (9.3% ownership)

A SuperCoach weapon of mass destruction who averaged 73.4 points per game last season and scored at an incredible rate of 1.36 points per minute. If the big unit from the Shire can stay off the injury list and well away from the judiciary, the 9.3% of owners with him in their starting team should reap early season rewards.

Kade Snowden 405,300 (1.5% ownership)

One of the standout front row forwards last season averaging 64 points per game at a super economical rate of 1.23 points per minute. Snowden won’t increase too much in value after a break-out year in 2015 but if he can maintain his minutes and work rate, he will be a set and forget option until the Knights have their first bye in round fifteen.

Jamie Lyon $348,100 (4.6% ownership)

Hit some serious form in the back half 2015 scoring three tons and averaging 75 points a game in his last eight appearances for the Sea Eagles. Lyon’s starting price of $348,100 is based on his season average of 55 and if the Sea Eagles get off to a flyer, the goal kicking Lyon should be right amongst the action. Available in CTW only.

James Maloney $418,900 (7.8% ownership)

One of the few halves above $350,000 who has kept dual HFB/5/8 status. Maloney was in brilliant form for the final third of the 2015 season averaging 83 points for his last eight games with the Roosters. Maloney has now found a new home at Cronulla and will be looking to ignite a team full of talent this year

Tepai Moeroa $247,300 (3.4% ownership)

If Anthony Watmough is forced into early retirement, Moeroa could be the man to step up and play 80 minutes. He plays all of the three big bye rounds during the State of Origin period but only averaged 39 points and 60 minutes per game in 2015. Another one for the watch list, Moeroa could shape as one of the PODS of the year if he plays 80 minutes or end up just another SuperCoach T-R-A-P to avoid like the plague.

Good luck all with your starting teams and don’t forget to tune into the countdown show on Thursday night for all the final team news before kick-off.
