A famous State of Origin decider has been marred by an ugly tunnel incident at Accor Stadium after a full can of alcohol was launched at a NSW Blues star. WATCH THE VIDEO.

A patron was hit while NSW bench hooker Connor Watson narrowly avoided a full can hitting him in the head moments after the Blues’ loss to Queensland on Wednesday night.

This masthead has obtained the footage of a can hitting a crowd member as Watson stood and talked to him.

Watson was just centimetres from being collected after he shook hands with the patron.

People can be heard screaming Watson’s name just before the beer is thrown.

The patron left unscathed but the beer could have caused serious damage if it collected them in the head. He turned around after being collected.

The can was thrown from the upper part of the stadium near the halfway mark. Watson was mingling with family and friends after the game when the incident occurred.

Security eventually attended.

Watson told this masthead he was shocked the incident had occurred and if found to be a deliberate act, the culprit should be punished.

“I’ve had to go up there, my family and friends were up there,” Watson said.

“One of my mates is in a wheelchair, and he can’t come down the stairs, so I have walked up there to go see him.

“As I’m walking, a can of Canadian Club lands right next to me and it’s like someone had thrown it at me.

“If they did throw it... the words I want to use for it... I can’t say right now.

“If it was thrown, it’s disappointing to think someone thinks it’s OK to do that.

“If that got me in the head... it seemed like it came from the top level.

“These younger guys, came up to me saying they have footage of the incident, of me walking and the can land right next to me.

“It’s disappointing to be honest.

“I’m just going up to visit my family and friends, I shouldn’t have to worry about someone throwing a can at me.

“If someone has done it, they should do something about it.”

The incident occurred just days after a bottle was thrown towards the Brisbane bench during a game against Canterbury at the same venue last Thursday.

“Stadium security staff are reviewing CCTV footage and will work with police,” a stadium spokesman said.

The offender faces a ban and police may investigate.
