Queensland are preparing to unleash a Rolls Royce backline in the State of Origin opener against NSW but it remains to be seen whether teenage phenom Selwyn Cobbo has done enough to force his way into Billy Slater’s side.

The Maroons will go into the June 8 encounter as underdogs, with Cobbo pushing for a place in the back three alongside fullback Kalyn Ponga.

Melbourne’s Xavier Coates is expected to take one wing spot and with Dane Gagai and Valentine Holmes the potential Maroons’ centre pairing, that could leave it as a battle between Cobbo and North Queensland speedster Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow for the other wing spot, in the wake of Cowboy Kyle Feldt’s knee injury.
