NSW coach Brad Fittler has rolled out a brand new backline in the State of Origin opener after injuries to incumbent Blues centres Tom Trbojevic and Latrell Mitchell - but even then, he’s managed to pull a few surprises.

Penrith’s Stephen Crichton seemed in prime position to make his Blues debut in the centres on June 8, but has been jumped in the queue by Canberra’s Jack Wighton.

And that’s not the only shock in Fittler’s team, with loyal servant Josh Addo-Carr dumped from the Blues squad - along with Jake Trbojevic and Angus Crichton.
