NSW State of Origin coach Laurie Daley will wait on whether potential debutant Wade Graham is found guilty by the NRL judiciary before calling in a replacement for game two.
Graham and the Blues camp face a nervous await on a verdict from the judiciary over Graham’s high shot on North Queensland star Johnathan Thurston in Cronulla’s 13-10 win on Monday night.
The Sharks second-rower wasn’t put on report, however with a similar offence in the past 12 months, together with 28 carry-over points, the charge applied to him this morning could see him robbed of a dream debut.
“We’re not quite sure what’s happening there. Fingers crossed for Wade there’s no charge. But if there is, we’ll deal with it if and when it happens,” Daley said on Tuesday.
The Blues leave Sydney to begin camp in Coffs Harbour on Tuesday morning without a possible replacement for Graham should he be charged with a careless high shot.
St George Illawarra youngster Tyson Frizell or Warriors veteran Ryan Hoffman are the likely candidates to receive a call-up, however Daley insists on waiting before making a decision.
“We haven’t contacted anyone at this stage. Certainly in our mind we know what we want to do if something did occur, but we’ll wait and see,” he said.
“It’s a distraction that you don’t need, but it’s one that you’ve just got to cope with. We’ll probably find out when we arrive in Coffs and then have to make arrangements for whatever happens from there.”
