MANLY’S 19-year-old winger Tom Trbojevic should replace Blake Ferguson in the NSW State of Origin side for game two.
Laurie Daley is reluctant to make wholesale changes but this would definitely strengthen the Blues attack and add more try-scoring potential.
Ferguson, like most of his teammates, had an absolute shocker for the Roosters against Melbourne Storm on Saturday night.
He has size and strength but no longer the agility or the skill of modern-day wingers to score those seemingly impossible tries.
While Ferguson struggled on Saturday night, Trbojevic had a blinder at Brookvale Oval on Sunday.
The only certain change from game one will be Cronulla’s Wade Graham on the left edge for the injured Boyd Cordner.
And maybe Bryce Cartwright or Jack Bird on the bench for Dylan Walker, who despite a wonderful first half at Brookvale, is still yet to prove himself an Origin player.
PANTHERS PUP LOOKS THE BUSINESS
Penrith have unearthed a sensational young prospect in 18-year-old half-back Nathan Cleary.
That a teenager on debut could engineer such a magnificent second-half fightback at Brookvale Oval yesterday indicates he is going to be something extra special.
He played with the confidence and skill of a seasoned first grader and was never rattled despite the 16-point half-time deficit.
We are going to be hearing a lot more about him in future years.
