After five consecutive State of Origin series’ Newcastle prop David Klemmer has been axed from Brad Fittler’s NSW squad for the upcoming series.
Fittler updated his extended squad on Sunday night following the weekend’s finals fixtures. With Klemmer’s Knights bowing out of the series on Sunday night it meant he was free for selection.

However, the 26-year-old Kangaroos prop missed out.
Klemmer has starred in 14 games for the Blues since his debut in 2015 and could be considered unlucky to miss out on selection.
His Knights teammate Daniel Saifiti was selected though after a breakout season earned him his Origin debut last year.
Following Tom Trbojevic’s withdrawal due to injury, Fittler also added Dragons centre Zac Lomax to the squad.
Another noticeable absentee is Sharks skipper Wade Graham.
The 29-year-old was recalled into the side last year but failed to hang onto his spot.
Saifiti and Lomax join Payne Haas, Jake Trbojevic, Tyson Frizell and Cameron McInnes who were named the Sunday before.
They will re-enter the player bubble to go into Origin camp on 19 October.
