SAM Thaiday has chosen not to fight a dangerous throw charge for his lifting tackle on Paul Gallen, copping a two week ban that will sideline him until the Origin decider.
Thaiday was hit with a grade two dangerous throw charge by the match review committee immediately after Queensland’s series clinching victory on Wednesday night, which would have carried a three week suspension and ruled him out of Origin III had he chosen to fight the charge and lost.

Instead, he took his medicine, submitting an early guilty plea that will force him out of the Broncos’ blockbuster clashes against the Bulldogs and the Storm.
It was a course of action Thaiday hinted at after Queensland’s win, joking to the Courier-Mail that he was no chance of getting off because he’s “from Queensland”.
Thaiday was supported by victim of the tackle, NSW skipper Gallen in the post-match press conference but still chose not to roll the dice.
“That doesn’t help with your defence anyway. I have to do what I have to do,” Thaiday told the Courier-Mail.
“If I miss a couple of weeks it is a lot more fitness for me and I wouldn’t be looking forward to that.”
