There was no Maroon miracle coming. Not this time as a rampant NSW side ran riot to embarrass Queensland for a second consecutive match this time running away 26-0 winners at Suncorp Stadium.
The shut-out win ensured the Blues wrapped up the three game series for the third time in four years and entrenched the belief that NSW are in the midst of their creating own dynasty.
Adding to the Maroons’ woes was that the Blues were able to win both games in front of a Queensland strong crowd after Townsville hosted game one. It is just the second time in 16 years that NSW has been able to clinch the series by winning the opening two games.
Queensland’s trainwreck of a lead-up to this game was matched only by another inept performance on the field as they handed over the Origin shield.
So who shone and who was a disaster? Who retains their place for Game III and could this be the end of some Origin careers?
