South Sydney forward Keaon Koloamatangi has been ruled out for the season after he suffered a high grade ankle injury on Friday night.
The Rabbitohs confirmed on Sunday that scans have revealed Koloamatangi’s injury is worse than initially feared and requires ankle surgery,
Koloamatangi, who has been the club’s best in 2025, now joins the likes of Latrell Mitchell (quad), Cody Walker (calf) and Campbell Graham (back) in Wayne Bennett’s burgeoning casualty ward.
Bennett will also be without hooker Peter Mamouzelos against Cronulla after he was forced into an 11-day head injury stand down after suffering a concussion against premiers Penrith.
The latest injuries will leave Bennett struggling to field a 21-man squad to face the Sharks, which may force the coach to lean on the club’s relationship with Queensland feeder side Townsville Blackhawks.
Top 30 forwards Shaq Mitchell and Thomas Fletcher are also options for Bennett.
