SEN breakfast radio: Andrew Voss, Greg Alexander reunite in radio shake-up

One station is going all out in a bid to secure the big Sydney breakfast radio market with two of rugby league’s great minds linking up once again.

Breakfast radio in Sydney is set for a shake-up.

Greg Alexander will make his return to full-time presenting after agreeing to co-host alongside Andrew Voss on SEN’s breakfast show in what is a major scalp for the sport station.

Alexander cut his teeth in radio following a long stint at 2UE where he co-hosted a nightly sport show for about 15 years – including sharing the microphone with Voss.

Since then the pair have worked alongside each other at Fox League but Alexander said he was excited by the prospect of jumping behind the microphone again.

“I don’t think radio has changed that much,” Alexander said. “It’s all about interactions with people that listen who text message, email or ring up.

“I’ll watch any sport. I love cricket and golf plus the US-sports.”

Voss has been in the chair solo since late 2020. He welcomed the addition of Alexander and said the pair would challenge each other daily.

“Rugby league is going to be the big talker,” Voss said. “There’s no doubt about that. We won’t ignore the big news stories of the day.

“As a media veteran, he is very impressive. He has got better and better as a presenter. He is a very polished performer on Fox League and he can express an opinion and hold an argument. I’m privileged to work with him and call him a mate but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to go him if I disagree with something. He comes with a strong opinion so it will get lively.”

The duo will look to challenge Big Sports Breakfast while Alexander’s brother in law Mark Geyer is also returning to breakfast on Triple M.

Alexander, who will remain a key part of the Fox League team, is already bracing for the early morning starts.

“I’m in practice already,” Alexander said. “We are a few weeks away now so I’m starting to get up at 6am. I’ll get up an hour earlier each week. We’ve just come out of a summer of lockdowns and Covid-19 so there has been no routine.

“I’ll get up at 5am next week and the week before we go I’ll be up at four. I’ll be ready for it, if you can ever be ready for it.”

Cameron Smith and Matty Johns will be among the weekly guests.

Breakfast with Vossy and Brandy will start on February 14.
