“The difference between our performance last time and on this occasion was our actual belief that we could win the game when we got in the position to do so.” All Saints coach Matt Lantry said.

Farrer’s Mitch Henderson and Ethan Antzakles were everything in the first half but similarly to round one their side failed to convert early chances.

The arrival of the late All Saints supporter’s bus was a timely boost for the locals as they opened the match with the first try off an impressive carry from Sam Lantry.

Despite having most of the possession in the first half, the visitors continued to miss opportunities and paid the price when the locals increased their lead through a Sharpe penalty goal.

Sharpe again made his impact felt taking four Farrer defenders over the try line with him to stretch the All Saints lead to 12-0.

On the stroke of halftime, the Tamworth locals hit back with an amazing team try that saw Riley Leonard cut through All Saints and give off to skipper Mitch Henderson.

Khynan Butler had big shoes to fill in the absence of young gun Jacob Davis and did so scoring the second-half opener off a show and go out of dummy half.

“He played really, really well today for his first game with the school team, I thought his decision-making around dummy-half was quite good and his service was great.” Lantry said.

The opportunistic hosts produced the highlight of the round kicking from the scrum that saw Eckford gather on the bounce and score under the posts, which he celebrated with a spectacular backflip.

When it all seemed over, Mitch Henderson took matters into his own hands and kicked to himself to score a great individual try keeping his team in the contest.

But Mason Metcalf’s presence proved too much for the visitors when he dished off an offload after a strong carry to gift Sharpe for his second major.

Henderson’s never say die attitude was evident all match after he threw a perfect cutout pass in the dying moments to put Jordan Willoch under the posts.

Both sides fought hard, but in the end it was Sharpe’s kicking game that helped get his team over the line.

“Fletcher Sharpe was pivotal when kicking the ball into corners and asking Farrer to roll up their sleeves and come out of their own end consistently.” Lantry said.
