Ahead of the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League National Championships, we’ve scouted the top schoolboy talent from across the country to rank the top 50 under-18 schoolboy rugby league players in the nation.
Some key talking points from the list are:
• Number one Mitchell Woods, the cross-code superstar had his choice of AFL clubs to join but has opted to stick with the Bulldogs having signed a contract which will run through to 2027;
• There are plenty of familiar names on the list with sons of guns like Toby Rodwell (dad Brett played over 200 games in the NRL) and Cooper Bai (son of PNG cult hero ‘George’ Bai;
• The depth of the list is outstanding with a host of U19 Origin representatives falling outside the top 10 as does schoolboys rugby union sensation Heamasi Makasini who created a storm on the internet when footage of him monstering his opposition went viral recently.
