The Rabbitohs are reportedly unhappy about Brandon Smith being caught on live TV appearing to mock Latrell Mitchell after the Storm’s golden point win on Thursday.

Vision has emerged of Smith entering the field to congratulate Storm players after the epic 15-14 win that was described by NRL legend Matty Johns as something he had never seen before.

Mitchell was the driving force behind an insane comeback from South Sydney that saw the team tie the game up with a two-point, long-range field goal from Mitchell in the 79th minute.

When the star fullback slotted the 45m field goal he gestured by pointing his ears towards the crowd in a light-hearted, mocking act to suggest he couldn’t hear the home team’s fans any more.

Smith appeared to be mocking the gesture when speaking with teammates on the AAMI Park turf after the game.

The Sydney Morning Herald first reported Smith’s actions have left the Rabbitohs unhappy.

“He’s upset some people at South Sydney with antics after the game,” reporter Michael Chammas told Channel 9 on Sunday.

“Brandon Smith – he looks like he’s mocking Latrell there.

“Maybe some long memories of previous incidents while Latrell was playing with the Roosters.”

The report outlines the Storm and Mitchell have had issues in the past, beginning with Mitchell’s on-field verbal and physical confrontations with former Melbourne centre Will Chambers when Mitchell was playing in State of Origin for NSW and during his time with the Roosters.

Meanwhile, NRL legend Andrew Johns declared on Thursday night South Sydney will still be playing finals football this year, despite a disastrous 0-2 start to the season.

He said the Rabbitohs’ attack will be “scary” once Mitchell and five-eighth Cody Walker find a way to work together.

South Sydney coach Jason Demetriou says superstar Mitchell will “only get better” after a stunning late strike nearly earned the Rabbitohs a remarkable win against Melbourne Storm.
