Penrith champion Nathan Cleary won’t be swapping the Steeden for a paintbrush anytime soon.
But that hasn’t stopped the four-time premiership winner from revealing his artistic side, painting a portrait of girlfriend and Matildas star Mary Fowler.
Fowler posted a series of photographs to social media sharing moments from the loved-up couple’s recent European holiday together.
Between hiking the Swiss Alps and hitting Europe’s beaches, the sporting power couple also enjoyed some down time, taking to a canvas to paint each other.
Fowler shared the results of their artistic attempts on social media, with the caption “feeling blessed, grateful for this life”.
But Cleary couldn’t help but be self-deprecating when it came to his artistic ability.
“Aren’t you just so happy that you found an artistic boyfriend?,” Cleary responded adding paint palette emoji.
Fowler also shared a photo of her sea life themed nail art, which was clearly painted by someone with far more artistic ability than the Panthers halfback.
In addition to the art, Fowler posted a new image of the couple on her official Instagram page on Tuesday morning.
The pair are captured posing harbourside in Europe, both sporting smiles while they share a moment together.
The post was accompanied with a smiley face caption.
Cleary had spent around three weeks in Europe with Fowler, who is based in Manchester, before going on the knife last Monday to repair the shoulder injury that he carried during the finals series.
The memories and romantic moments from his getaway with Fowler are proving to be the perfect distraction for Cleary, who is only one week into a three-month recovery period as he aims for a round one return for the Panthers in Las Vegas.
Fowler also posted images of the couple soaking up the last of the European summer enjoying the coastline.
The Manchester City striker is as talented behind the lens of a camera as she is on the soccer field and has recently started a dedicated Instagram page called ‘photosbymaz’, that is mostly filled with photographs of Cleary.
Cleary also took the time to catch-up with former Panthers teammates and close friend Tyrone May while overseas.
The duo, along with Penrith hooker Mitch Kenny, were spotted enjoying the sights in Barcelona, Spain.
Panthers medical staff are confident Cleary will be fit enough to jet off with the rest of the team for the season opener at Allegiant Stadium on March 1.
It’s expected Cleary will be in a sling for around four-six weeks post shoulder surgery before starting a strength and rehabilitation program with a view of returning to call contact training in February.
