Who are the best rugby league television commentators? And who are the worst?

They share our lounge rooms for seven months of the year and we either love them or mute them.

So here goes … our exclusive ratings on the men and women inside the broadcasting boxes for the winter of 2014.

No surprise that the voice of football Ray Rabbits Warren comes in at number one with a 9.

And no, no, no, no, no, no surprise to regular readers of this column that Philip Ronald Gould AM comes in at the tail of the field. He’s far too irritating for my liking.

While Channel Nine takes out the major prize, we’ve rated Fox Sports duo Gorden Tallis and Matty Johns in equal second place.

Why? Because unlike most of the commentators, both are prepared to say what they actually believe without fear of offending former team mates.

The presence of women as part of the rugby league media is growing every year.

The likes of Erin Molan, Lara Pitt and Yvonne Sampson are all doing a tremendous job.
