JUST when you thought South Sydney hooker Damien Cook’s year couldn’t get any better, it has.
The Rabbitohs star added a stunning wedding on Friday to his season highlights of playing for the NSW Blues, Australia’s Kangaroos and winning the Dally M hooker-of-the-year award.
Remarkable in that this is the player who spent most of last year on the reserves bench.
Cook married his long-time partner Courtney Blaine on the lawns of Royal Randwick and hosted a reception on course at The Stables.
The wedding had to be postponed for two weeks because the couple had no idea Cook would play for Australia when the initial plans were made.
All his closest rugby league pals were there. Sam Burgess and his wife Phoebe, Greg Inglis, 309-game veteran John Sutton and Dally M coach-of-the-year, Anthony Seibold.
So too was Racing NSW supremo Peter V’landys. Cook’s wife works as V’landys’ personal assistant.
The couple left today for an overseas honeymoon.
