South Sydney captain Cameron Murray has copped a three-match ban after failing to have his careless high tackle charge downgraded at the judiciary.

Murray, who was hit with a grade two carless high tackle charge for his hit on Newcastle’s Tyson Frizell in last Saturday night’s loss to the Knights, was hoping to have his two-match ban reduced to a fine, but rolled the dice and lost at the judiciary on Tuesday night.

This means Murray won’t appear for the Rabbitohs again this season, with just two fixtures remaining for the side who are out of finals contention

Souths take on premiers Penrith on Friday night before facing the Sydney Roosters in the final game of the regular season.
