The Sharks are sweating on what would be a major boost, with centre Jesse Ramien included in the squad to tackle the Cowboys in an elimination final clash at Allianz Stadium.
Ramien was a significant omission in Cronulla’s 37-10 loss to the Storm at AAMI Park last Saturday due to an ankle injury.
However, after a positive week of rehabilitation, Ramien will be put through his paces on Thursday in order to prove his fitness for the must-win clash on Friday night.
The powerful centre has been named in Cronulla’s extended squad, but could be a late inclusion into the final 17.
Meanwhile, the Roosters have also received a boost, with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves making a return from suspension, while Victor Radley is also a surprise inclusion among the reserves.
He could make a shock return from a fractured scapula suffered in Round 26, which was initially thought to be season ending.
The return of Waerea-Hargreaves sees Nat Butcher move back to the bench.
Sea Eagles winger Jason Saab remains sidelined after missing the past two games with an ankle injury, while fullback Tom Trbojevic is good to go.
