Rabbitohs rising star Tyrone Munro has made the courageous decision to play against Penrith this weekend following the shock loss of his mother, Kirawhan Fernando.

The 19-year-old South Sydney rookie has been offered support from the entire Rabbitohs club in the wake of Fernando’s passing on Wednesday.

The Rabbitohs will wear black armbands as a mark of respect to Munro and his three brothers against the Panthers on Friday night.

“The South Sydney Rabbitohs are supporting the family and friends of Kirawhan Fernando, the mother of Tyrone Munro, who passed away yesterday,’’ a Rabbitohs statement read.

“Kirawhan is survived by her four sons, including her eldest son Tyrone, who has bravely decided to play in tomorrow night’s game against Penrith in his mother’s honour.

“The Rabbitohs will wear black armbands to commemorate Kirawhan’s life and has offered Tyrone the club’s full support and his immediate family at what is a very difficult time for them all.’’
