NRL 2024: Brisbane Broncos insist they aren’t heading to Las Vegas for a party, unveil away jersey

The NRL’s Las Vegas experiment has been tipped to be one big party — but not for the Broncos, who have declared it just another part of their push for premiership redemption.

The Broncos insist they aren’t heading to Las Vegas for a party after unveiling the jersey Brisbane hopes will kickstart its 2024 NRL premiership redemption quest.

Broncos backrower Kurt Capewell headed to Sin City to reveal Brisbane’s 2024 away jersey – which the team will wear in the historic Vegas season-opener against the Roosters.

The Broncos have designed a white collared jersey, which goes on sale on Thursday, and confirmed they will be the ‘away’ team against the Roosters for the March 2 double-header also featuring South Sydney and Manly at Allegiant Stadium.

But the Vegas expedition will be anything but a jaunt for Kevin Walters’ Broncos as they kick off their 2024 title charge.

The Broncos fell agonisingly short of winning this year’s NRL premiership, suffering a heartbreaking grand final loss to the Panthers which is still raw at Red Hill.

The Broncos will depart Brisbane for the United States on February 22 and spend a week in Los Angeles, training at the headquarters of NFL heavyweights the LA Rams.

They will travel to Vegas via a private charter flight on Thursday, February 29 and face the Roosters two days later before flying out on Sunday, March 3, spending just three days in the US party city.

Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy said the club was treating the Vegas trip like any other premiership match.

“When the NRL spoke to us about Vegas, we put our hand up straight away and we’ve been very supportive from the outset,” he said.

“It’s a really important and exciting initiative for our game and it’s a significant exercise taking a team over there.

“There’s two competition points at stake so our job as a club is to ensure the environment where we’ll be based is as professional as it can be.

“I’m sure that no one can criticise us given we’ve partnered with one of the biggest sports franchises in the world in the LA Rams, who have kindly allowed us to be based at their headquarters for a week before the game.

“We’ll be doing some work in the off-season to finalise our planning and I’m sure Kev will be dangling a business class ticket as a carrot in front of some of our younger guys to motivate them to have as big a pre-season as possible.”

Given they featured in the final game of the NRL season, the Broncos are not due to report for pre-season training until the end of the month.

However several players have been training throughout their off-season in a bid to hit the ground running and avenge this year’s grand final defeat.
