Newcastle pair Kalyn Ponga and Kurt Mann have avoided sanction from the NRL over their toilet cubicle incident.

Ponga and Mann were filmed leaving a toilet cubicle at a Newcastle hotel together earlier this month by a member of the public, prompting the Knights and the NRL to launch an investigation into the matter.

NRL sources on Wednesday confirmed head office had opted to take no action against either player. It is unclear whether the Knights will adopt the same stance.

As part of their investigation, the NRL undertook target drug testing of the pair.

The players denied any wrongdoing and it is understood Mann accompanied Ponga to the toilet because the Newcastle star was feeling sick.

There was speculation Ponga could lose the captaincy over the incident, but it is believed the Knights superstar will stand by their star.
