Almost 12 months after his controversial dismissal from the Brisbane Broncos, the door has been opened for Anthony Seibold to make a head-coaching comeback.
The big-money offer has come in recent days from English Super League club the Leeds Rhinos and their wealthy owner Gary Hetherington.
Leeds’ coach Richard Agar has quit the club to join the Cronulla Sharks next year under new coach Craig Fitzgibbon as one of his assistants.
Seibold confirmed the offer when we spoke on Friday but declined to comment.

He is in the Covid bubble with the Newcastle Knights and working hard alongside Adam O’Brien to try to lift the Knights back into contention for the semi-finals.
The problem is that Seibold and his family have only just recovered from the emotional scars of his unhappy exit from the Broncos and the disgraceful social media attacks on his character. He needed professional help from mental health experts along the road to recovery.
He is unlikely to want to uplift his family again to the other side of the world, especially with the Covid situation in the UK.
Apart from working for the Knights, the former Dally M coach of the year is also employed as a consultant for England’s rugby union coach Eddie Jones.
Knights staff members have spoken highly about his contribution, despite the team’s on-field struggles.
