SHARKS RECRUIT RUSHED IN TO FACE BULLDOGS

Bryson Goodwin is in line to come straight into the Cronulla side to face Canterbury after being released from South Sydney to join the Sharks on Monday.
The 34-year-old returns to The Shire after a stint at Cronulla in 2008 and will deliver much-needed experience and depth to the Sharks’ depleted outside backs.
Goodwin, who trained with the Sharks on Monday, played his last NRL game in 2017 for Souths having spent the past two seasons with Warrington, scoring 22 tries in 56 games.
The veteran’s contract comes on the back of the Sharks signing fellow outside back, Nene Macdonald. The buys come as Cronulla deal with no Bronson Xerri, no Josh Morris, no Ronaldo Mulitalo and no Matt Moylan.
The Sharks face one of Goodwin’s former club’s the Bulldogs on Sunday.

In other big news ahead of Round 6:
* Big ins and out for Broncos with Alex Glenn and Tevita Pangai returning, which will go someway to offsetting the loss of Kotoni Staggs to a hamstring injury.
* Fresh concerns at the Knights over playmaker Kurt Mann’s ankle injury.
* Rabbitohs expect to be bolstered by the return of James Roberts.
* The Panthers forced to find a long-term replacement for Kurt Capewell, while KFC SuperCoach NRL favourite Stephen Crichton may struggle to retain his position in the team
* Benji Marshall to stay riding the pine, while injuries/suspensions hsi elsewhere at the Wests Tigers
* Valentine Holmes’ injury means it’s ‘Hammer time’ at the back for the Cowboys
* Plenty of bumps and bruises but no selection losers at the Raiders.
* Judiciary and injuries bite hard at Sea Eagles
KNIGHTS VS BRONCOS
7:50pm Thursday at Central Coast Stadium
Knights: Will be sweating on the fitness again of Kurt Mann after he took a knock to same ankle which had him in doubt for the Storm game in round five and he will be racing the clock to be fit given the Knights only have a five-day turnaround leading into this week’s game. If Mann is ruled out either Tex Hoy or Phoenix Crossland are options to replace him. Edrick Lee stayed down after suffering a burner to his shoulder but played the game out and should be right to play. Lachlan Fitzgibbon was close to returning last week after recovering from a hamstring injury and could replace Brodie Jones on the bench.
Broncos: It’s two steps forwards and one step back with both Tevita Pangai (suspension) and Alex Glenn (lacerated leg) returning but then they were dealt massive blow on Sunday at training with Kotoni Staggs suffering hamstring injury. Glenn or rookie Tesi Niu are options to be named at centre in place of Staggs. Herbie Farnworth (ankle) and Matt Lodge (HIA) will be both right to go, Rhys Kennedy is expected to make way for returning Pangai. Reported new signing Issac Luke could come into squad if officially announced before 5pm Tuesday.
RABBITOHS VS WARRIORS
6pm Friday at Bankwest Stadium
Rabbitohs: Came through their game on the weekend with no injury concerns. James Roberts is a chance to return after he was given another week to gain fitness after being late withdrawal on weekend.
Warriors: Could see David Fusitu’a return after Fusitu’a was late in joining his teammates in Australia and has slowly been building fitness. Fusitu’a would replace Adam Pompey in the team with Gerard Beale shifting to the wing if coach Stephen Kearney wants to continue with Fusitu’a in centres. Poasa Faamausili and Jack Murchie will be both right to play after being charged provided they take early guilty pleas. Tohu Harris will start on the right edge to begin the game and then moves to lock when Murchie comes onto the ground around the 25 minute mark and then plays the game out at lock. King Vuniyayawa suffered a neck injury on the weekend but should recover to be named. Ken Maumalo is an outside chance to be named after returning to running last week as he recovers from hamstring injury.
PANTHERS VS STORM
7:55pm Friday at Campbelltown Stadium
Panthers: Will have one or two changes to the team from weekend with Kurt Capewell ruled out after suffering knee injury last Friday night. Penrith have confirmed it was a grade three medial ligament injury suffered by Capewell and the injury is expected to keep him sidelined for at least 10 weeks. Liam Martin set to be named in Capewell’s place on the edge. Either Jack Hetherington or Billy Burns are options to come on to the bench in place of Martin. Dylan Edwards has recovered from his hamstring injury and could replace Caleb Aekins at fullback after being given another week to build fitness. Stephen Crichton’s position could come into question with Brent Naden an option to replace him.
Storm: Have no major injury concerns with Dale Finucane to be monitored during the week after passing game day HIA but no changes to 17 expected.
TITANS VS DRAGONS
3pm Saturday at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Titans: Will be without Dale Copley after he looked to pick up a syndesmosis injury in the game on the weekend. Copley’s absence will be offset by the return of Tyronne Roberts (ankle). Roberts will play fullback which would see Phillip Sami move back to wing with Brian Kelly moving to centre. Jai Arrow copped a knock to ribs again and will be monitored but should be right to play with pain killing injections. Jamal Fogerty (HIA) and Ash Taylor (shoulder) should both be right to play after playing out the game on the weekend.
Dragons: Coach Paul McGregor shuffled the decks and finally found that winning formula on the weekend against the Sharks. It’s likely McGregor will persist with Ben Hunt starting on the bench and Matt Dufty at fullback. Tyson Frizell switched back to his preferred right edge on the weekend which will continue with Tyrell Fuimaono switching to left edge The only potential change could be Jordan Pereira making way for either Jason Saab or Tristian Sailor after he didn’t have his best game on weekend. Blake Lawrie will need to be monitored during the week but should be fit to play after passing game day HIA in Sharks game on Sunday. Corey Norman was put on report for tripping but that only incurs a fine and no suspension in the NRL these days.
WESTS TIGERS VS COWBOYS
5:30pm Saturday at Campbelltown Stadium
Tigers: Could be without Luciano Leilua after he suffered an ankle injury in game on the weekend with Luke Garner expected to replace him on an edge. Russell Packer’s return to first grade will be short lived after he pled guilty to a grade-three careless high tackle charge from round five and will miss the next two matches. Oliver Clark will come back into the 17 to replace Packer. Josh Reynolds (throat), and Joey Leilua (knee) should both overcome minor injuries to be named. Benji Marshall’s stint on sidelines is set to continue with Josh Reynolds to be retained in 17 after having a good game on weekend.
Cowboys: Have been hit hard by injuries with Valentine Holmes (ankle) and Jordan McLean (calf) both ruled out after suffering injuries, Francis Molo would replace McLean at prop with Ben Hampton coming into the 17 to play either wing or fullback with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow the other option to play fullback after spending the majority of the match against the Warriors there last Friday. Tom Gilbert has accepted a three-week ban after being charged for making dangerous contact to the head/neck area of Warriors forward King Vuniyayawa, Corey Jensen, Shane Wright and Peter Hola all options to come into the 17 in place of Gilbert. Jake Clifford and Reece Robson both coped knocks in a game on Friday but will be fit to play.
ROOSTERS VS EELS
7:35pm Saturday at Bankwest Stadium
Roosters: Still to come
Eels: Likely to be without Kane Evans after he was charged by the match review committee. Orgeon Kaufusi and Brad Takarangi are options to come into 17. No other injury concerns to report.
RAIDERS VS SEA EAGLES
4.05pm Sunday at Campbelltown Stadium
Raiders: Could welcome the return of Corey Horsburgh after he missed the Tigers game on the weekend due to gastro. George Williams (knee), Charze Nicoll-Klokstad (knock), Jordan Rapana (shoulder), Jack Wighton (head cut) and Joseph Tapine (nose) all came out of the Tigers game with bumps and bruises but should be right to play. Hudson Young becomes eligible for selection after being out for the start of season due to suspension.
Sea Eagles: Could be missing a few players with Danny Levi having to beat charge at the judiciary to play after being charged by the Match Review Committee. Martin Taupau (thumb) and Moses Suli (finger) are both expected to be missing after picking up injuries in the Broncos game on Thursday. Curtis Sironen is expected to return after being a late withdrawal due to bone bruising to his knee while Jorge Taufua remains out with a quad injury. Brendan Elliot could replace Suli while Morgan Boyle could come into the squad for Taupau with coach Des Hasler to look at Cade Cust to partner Lachlan Croker in hooking duties.
SHARKS VS BULLDOGS
6.30pm Sunday at Bankwest Stadium
Sharks: Matt Moylan was a late scratching on the weekend after suffering hamstring tightness and he will need to prove his fitness to be named to play. Sione Katoa suffered a wrist injury during the game and is in some doubt which could see potential new signing Bryson Goodwin come into team if he is officially signed before 5pm Tuesday.
Bulldogs: Still to come.
