New Knights coach Adam O’Brien has landed his first major signing by enticing Gehamat Shibasaki to the club.
Shibasaki has signed a three-year deal to switch from Brisbane to Newcastle immediately. The 21-year-old was squeezed out of the Broncos to make way for Melbourne Storm halfback Brodie Croft.
He played 12 games this year after making his NRL debut in 2018.

Shibasaki will compete with the likes of Hymel Hunt, Tautau Moga and Bradman Best for a starting centre spot.
He was 18th man for the Junior Kangaroos clash against France in October.
The Knights also signed former Cowboys outside back Enari Tuala last month. Shibasaki and Tuala join ex-Cronulla hooker Jayden Brailey as the only additions to the 2020 Newcastle squad.
