Should Dugan retire?

Check out the highlights, lowlights and talking points from another memorable weekend in sport.

HIGHLIGHT

Tim Simona ’s comeback on Saturday in the Canterbury Cup for Blacktown against Souths. Three years ago this guy was a disgraced figure. He has turned his life around and done some great charity work. Everyone deserves a second chance.

LOWLIGHT

The ABC has given us another reason not listen to its league coverage. Its outstanding commentator Craig Hamilton, a 20-year veteran, has been told his services are not required for next season. A well-known mental health advocate, Hamilton has a strong following. The decision is a disgrace.

MISS THE POINT

Anyone who still wants to ditch golden point after the Broncos v Warriors thriller on Saturday has no idea. It was up there with the most exciting 10 minutes we have witnessed all year and rated through the roof on Fox Sports.

CALLING IT

Having former players in TV commentary positions doesn’t always work because of their reluctance to be brutally honest with criticism. Not so at Fox Sports. Gorden Tallis ’s criticism of Josh Duganon Saturday night was spot on. Michael Ennis didn’t hold back on Darius Boyd the previous week. Last year Greg Alexander was the first to call out Johnathan Thurston for playing one year too many.

SOARING EAGLE

It’s not often the man of the match comes from a losing side but Manly right-edge forward Curtis Sironen was the best on the park against South Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Saturday.

Check out the match stats HERE.

SHOOSH

We’re hearing KIA motors is about to bail out on the Bulldogs to take over from NRMA as the major jersey sponsor for the Brisbane Broncos.

STAT ATTACK

There were amazing statistics in the Warriors-Broncos game. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck ran for 321m, while lock Jazz Tevago made 62 tackles.
