HE’S only played 80 minutes of season 2018 but Cronulla fullback Valentine Holmes is under immense pressure to prove he’s worth “fullback” money after a lacklustre showing against the Cowboys.
The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield says Holmes is the best winger in the game and that’s where he should be lining up every week.
“They made the finals last year when he was playing at fullback but I think the World Cup reinforced (he is a winger),” he said on Monday Bunker.
“I think personally he is the number one winger in the game
“Whatever happens they have to give up on Val. I know he’s on fullback money which is probably 750k a year.
“You have to pick the side to suit the team and not to suit the individual and the Cronulla Sharks are a better side in my mind with (Josh) Dugan at fullback, Jesse Ramien coming into the centres and Val Holmes playing on the wing where he will absolutely terrorise his opponents.
