MATT Moylan is officially a Shark.

Cronulla have put an end to months of speculation, denials and protracted negotiations by announcing that Moylan, 26, has signed a four-year deal that will see him play in the Sutherland Shire until 2021.

After five years at the foot of the mountains, the St Clair Comets junior will attempt to follow in the footsteps of former Penrith local juniors Luke Lewis and Wade Graham by winning a premiership with the Sharks.

“It’s a new chapter in my career and I’m looking forward to getting out here and playing some good footy,” Moylan said.

“I’m excited about the new opportunity and wherever I end up playing I’ll be happy.

“Hopefully I can have a good off-season and hit the ground running next year.”

The Test and NSW Origin star began his first day at his new club during an induction meeting on Thursday at Shark Park.

Moylan’s move to Cronulla involved the trade of Sharks premiership-winning five-eighth James Maloney.

The Panthers were also hopeful of formally announcing Maloney’s acquisition to the club today.

However, a delay in the registration of a third-party deal will prolong any official announcement.

“I’m sure I speak for everyone here at Panthers in wishing Matt all the best for this next phase of his life,” Panthers supremo Phil Gould said.

“We will follow his football career with great interest.”
