Tigers winger David Nofoaluma scored a double and it looked like they might be headed for victory until Keaon Koloamatangi scored for the Rabbitohs with 10 minutes remaining.

After Jackson Hastings and Blake Taafe both missed conversion attempts, the game was set up for an epic finish with the score 22-22.

Jai Arrow had a shocking attempt at a field goal, while Hastings couldn’t manage to repeat his heroics from the Tigers’ win last week over Parramatta.

But the recruit masterminded a set of six up the field and set up his halves partner Brooks, who nailed a drop goal from 20 metres out to seal victory for the Tigers.

It was the Tigers’ second one-point win in a row over quality opposition and will give fans something to cheer about after they lost the first five games of the season.

Brooks’ move from halfback to five-eighth paid off again and he showed off his speed in the second half when he scooped up a ball and sprinted 70m to score a crucial try.

NRL fans were thrilled the Tigers managed to pull off another thrilling win and get their season back on track.

Sports journalist Chloe-Amanda Bailey tweeted: “Two in a row! And at the death! How good for the Tigers! Stoked for them. So stoked.”

The Tigers are still second last on the ladder but the result means they in touching distance of the top eight.
