Lachlan Galvin applauds Tallyn Da Silva’s Tigers defection with cheeky social media post

After his own messy and highly-publicised Concord exit, Lachlan Galvin has applauded great mate Tallyn Da Silva on his Tigers defection with a cheeky dig at his former club.

Lachlan Galvin has applauded close mate Tallyn Da Silva’s Wests Tigers defection with a cheeky social media post only a month after his own messy and highly-publicised Concord exit.

Prized Bulldogs recruit Galvin, took to social media on Monday night to congratulate Da Silva on his decision to depart the Tigers to join Parramatta on the eve of the June 30 mid-season transfer deadline.

Galvin re-posted Parramatta’s announcement of Da Silva’s signing with a ‘perfect’ hand emoji alongside a cheeky wink.

On Sunday, this masthead revealed that the rising Tigers hooker had agreed to join western Sydney rivals the Eels on a lucrative four-and-a-half-year deal, worth around $2.6 million, effective immediately.

Da Silva had indicated he wanted to remain at the Tigers but with Api Koriosau ahead of him in the hooking pecking order, and the club’s intention to re-sign the co-captain, the youngster opted to pursue a deal elsewhere.

It comes only weeks after Galvin also walked out on the club to join title contender Canterbury in late May.

Da Silva and Galvin have been best friends during their rise through the Tigers junior ranks, where the talented duo were part of the club’s Western Suburbs’ Harold Matthews Cup win in 2022.

Galvin was embroiled with his own social media saga before his bombshell decision to quit the club, refusing to entertain a contract extension believed to be in the vicinity of $5 million over five years.

At the time, Tigers teammate Jarome Luai took to social media with a “team first” post that appeared to take aim at Galvin’s decision to walk out on the club.

Meanwhile star winger Sunia Turuva posted a photo of Galvin locker along with the WWE theme song Money Talks.

Galvin was quick to praise the camaraderie of his new Bulldogs teammates during his first interview after joining Canterbury.

“They are always here for each other, all the boys have each other’s backs … I just want to keep working hard, getting in here and learning all their systems,” Galvin said at the time.

Tigers skipper Luai told this masthead he was disappointed to see Da Silva join the Eels given his huge upside potential.

“It’s a bit disappointing to be honest,” Luai said.

“I think he was on his way to becoming a great player, I still think he is.

“But I think he just wanted more opportunities.

“Obviously we have Api (Koroisau) there, he is our skipper.

“Api still has a lot of footy in front of him as well, I believe that he definitely has a few more years left in those legs.

“In the end Tal (Da Silva) wanted more opportunities for himself.

“I loved my time around Tal and I wish him all the best.

“What he can bring to a team, I think he is going to be a really good player for a long time.”
