KIERAN Foran is not “by any stretch” recovered from the personal issues that prompted him to walk away from the NRL this season, according to Warriors boss Jim Doyle.
His new club has pledged to give the star playmaker, who signed a one-year contract with the Auckland-based Warriors for 2017, ongoing support to address his mental health problems.
The New Zealander hasn’t played since July, when he was granted a release from Parramatta in the first season of a lucrative four-year deal.

Foran was admitted to a Brisbane rehabilitation clinic to address personal issues three months ago.
Doyle on Friday said Foran was not fully recovered, but was working hard to get himself right mentally.
“Kieran’s not 100 per cent recovered by any stretch,” Doyle told Sky Sport Radio.
“He will continue to work with the appropriate people around him to help him stay on the right track.
“We’ll support him through that.”
But the NRL hasn’t yet registered his contract, with reports the league is planning to contact Foran in the next few weeks for a meeting to assess his mental condition.
Doyle said he has spoken with the NRL but not in specific detail.
Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe joins Nathan Ryan, Ben Glover and Ben Ikin to discuss Jason Taylor’s future, the Robbie Farah drama, recruitment for 2017 and the direction the club is heading.

“I’ve talked the NRL quite a bit over the last few weeks in regards to if Kieran decides to come to the Warriors, what process we have to go through, what things we have to address etc,” he said.
“Now when he decided on the weekend (and) he signed a contract (on Thursday) and we wanted to get it out because there had been lots of speculation. We thought we’ve signed a contract, let’s get it out and start the process.
“The NRL was never going to give you any details for a prospective contract or prospective club. They are only going to do that once you actually have something to talk to them about.”
Rehabilitating from a shoulder injury and working through his personal issues, Foran will join the Warriors for pre-season training in November pending NRL approval.
While nothing is guaranteed, Doyle said he is confident Foran will be playing for the Warriors come round one next season.
“I’m pretty confident that he’ll be there,” he said.
“For those who know Kieran, he’s a super kid.
“We can help him and he can help himself get back to where he used to be and if we can get him there, we all know what he’s capable of on the football field.”
Foran believes he’s rediscovered his passion for the game.
“I’ve had a lot of time to think about my future over the last few months,” Foran said from Sydney on Thursday.
“Initially, footy was the furthest thing from my mind and I needed time away from the game.
“More recently, the desire to play again has completely returned and I’m very keen to make a big contribution next year.”
