The NRL is facing another test of its no-fault stand-down policy following revelations Wests Tigers star Josh Reynolds has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm relating to an alleged domestic violence incident.
In a statement given to AAP, NSW Police have confirmed that at about 2pm on December 11, a woman attended St George Police Station to report an alleged assault.

Reynolds then attended the station at about 9.40pm where he was arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic violence). “Police will allege on 12 September, the 29-year-old woman suffered bruising to her right arm and left leg after allegedly being assaulted by a 30-year-old man,” the statement read.
The former State of Origin star was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday, December 18, where he will vigorously defend the charge.
The Daily Telegraph questioned Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe about Reynolds being interviewed by the integrity unit two weeks ago. At the time, Pascoe confirmed Reynolds and his manager had been interviewed but denied there was any problem.
While at the Bulldogs in 2015, Reynolds took part in a march through Lakemba in support of White Ribbon Day as Canterbury wore a special jersey in support of the cause.
Last year, Reynolds was one of a host of current and former NRL players to be named in the code’s ‘Power For Change’ campaign against domestic violence.
According to an NRL media release: “The campaign, which is backed by Our Watch, White Ribbon Australia and the Full Stop Foundation, focuses on the NRL’s Voice Against Violence program, with a message of empowering young people to be leaders of change against domestic violence.”
Both the NRL and the Tigers on Thursday confirmed Reynolds, 30, had been charged with the AVO application due to be heard in Sutherland local court next Wednesday.
“This morning NSW Police advised the NRL Integrity Unit that Wests Tigers player Josh Reynolds had been charged with a domestic violence offence,” the NRL said in a statement.
“The NRL takes any allegation of violence or disrespect towards women extremely seriously.
“The Integrity Unit is seeking further information from NSW Police before determining any immediate action.”
The Tigers have released a statement, saying their player would defend the charge.
“Both Josh and Wests Tigers has previously alerted the police and NRL on this matter and will continue to work closely with the NRL Integrity Unit and NSW Police as Josh vigorously defends this charge,” the Tigers statement read.
“As this is an ongoing legal matter, Wests Tigers will be making no further comment at this time.”
Earlier this year, the couple revealed they had lost both of their unborn babies late in the pregnancy.
Reynolds is contracted to the Tigers for the next two seasons on a $750,000-a-year deal.
