MELBOURNE Storm is in control of its own destiny after Saturday’s gutsy 10-8 away win against Gold Coast Titans secured home-ground advantage in the first week of finals.

A second week at home and minor premiership hat-trick beckons if Storms accounts for Penrith at AAMI Park on Friday night.

Storm holds a commanding buffer, a game and points differential, over chief premiership rivals Sydney Roosters and South Sydney going into the last home-and-away fixture.

Melbourne is guaranteed a top-two finish.
The second-placed Roosters need a 32-point swing on the scoreboard to dethrone Storm if the Panthers prevail.

Storm prop Jesse Bromwich signalled the importance of taking care of business.

“It’s a big plus for us on game day (playing in Melbourne),” Bromwich said.

“There’s eight teams there that are genuine contenders that can take this competition out. It’s anyone’s game, and all we can do is focus on ourselves. We’ll play anywhere, anytime, but home-ground advantage in a finals game is massive.”

Storm has been here before, with different characters and a better script.

It will be without Suliasi Vunivalu (hamstring), Nelson Asofa-Solomona (ankle) and Brandon Smith (knee) this week.

Cameron Munster is likely to be nursed through the week after knocks to the elbow and knee.
