Life in the English Super League is about to become a whole lot more interesting.
Former Sydney Roosters firebrand Jared Waerea-Hargreaves – and his young family – has arrived in the UK to complete a one-year deal with Hull Kingston Rovers, this year’s grand finalists.
Waerea-Hargreaves touched down wearing a white jumper but quickly donned an official red Hull KR jacket.
Hull KR’s social media team was at the airport, believed to be Manchester, to greet Waerea-Hargreaves and posted a short, 43-second video headlined: “Touchdown in the UK.”

“G’day mate, Jared, lovely to meet you, how are you doing?” Waerea-Hargraves said to the Hull KR bus driver.
Waerea-Hargraves, 35, was one of the most feared and controversial players in the NRL era.
A ferocious, old-school prop, Waerea-Hargreaves was suspended for nearly 30 games through his stellar 310-game Roosters career.
“The team has been building for a number of years. They were successful last year but fell short in the Cup final,” Waerea-Hargreaves told hullkr.co.uk.
“We’ve got a really strong squad this season and from the win over Hull you can see their training really hard

“For myself, my wife and the kids, we’re looking forward to coming over as a family, knuckling down and enjoying the North of England.
“I’ve played a number of years in the UK with New Zealand, coming away internationally. I’ve loved England, I love how passionate the people are.
“I love the working class city of Hull, it’s been on my radar for a couple of years. Now it’s official, it’s very exciting.
“To be on the other side of the world in the North of England and be able to go to a place like Hull and do some special things with Hull KR is exciting.”
Former Souths and St George halfback Willie Peters is Hull KR’s coach.
Ex-NRL players Peta Hiku, Tyrone May, Rhyse Martin also represent Hull KR, who were beaten 9-2 by Wigan in this year’s grand final.
Waerea-Hargreaves won three premiership at the Roosters and played 33 Tests for New Zealand.
