James Graham unleashes on Mitchell Moses false Roosters rumours

James Graham has unloaded on an NRL ‘disgrace’ after the truth about the Mitchell Moses contract rumours was laid bare.

NRL great James Graham has blown up after learning that the rumours of Mitch Moses being courted by the Sydney Roosters had been completely fabricated.

The star Eels halfback re-signed with the Eels on Thursday on a five-year deal reportedly worth roughly $6 million.

Speaking about the deal on Thursday evening, Sydney Morning Herald journalist Michael Chammas told the ‘Footy Talk’ podcast that he had spoken to someone at an NRL club who had made a decision to make up rumours about the 28-year-old playmaker.

“A couple of weeks ago I was speaking to someone at a club and this person said ‘let’s start a rumour’,” Chammas said.

“Let’s see how long it takes for it to get out that the Roosters are trying to get Mitchell Moses.

“This person, or this club, decided to continue the narrative about Mitchell Moses and the Roosters … It started by a club thinking it would be funny to see if anyone would take the bait.”

Graham then teed off after hearing the revelation, slamming the two unnamed people that started the rumour, calling them “little b****es.

“What two little b****es.

“No, I’m sorry, in the world of mental health, how has Moses been these past couple of days?

“Like in terms of waiting to put out fires and, you know, ‘oh are you leaving?’ Do you think that helps him?

“Because you two want to start a rumour, you little b****es.

“What an absolute disgrace, they sound like my mum and my sister gossiping.

“I hate gossipers – like they p*** me off.”

News Corp’s Paul Kent reported the rumours on NRL 360, qualifying that that he “had not had anyone confirm them”.

The Roosters were unequivocal in rejecting the rumours, with chairman Nick Politis, telling The Daily Telegraph that the club “wasn’t interested”.

“We’re more than happy with Sam Walker as our halfback,” Politis said.

“There has been absolutely no discussion around Mitchell Moses.”

Moses was the hero for Parramatta on Thursday night after their thrilling golden point win over Penrith in a grand final rematch, kicking the match winner from the 20m line and ending the Eels’ three-game losing streak.

Moses has been in the headlines as the Parramatta faithful wait for news of his contract extension.

Earlier on Thursday, it was reported he had finally ended the standoff and re-signed with Parramatta on a four-year extension worth around $1.25 million a season, seeing off reported interest from the Wests Tigers.

“It’s a good moment,” Moses told Nine.

“We have been chasing that performance all year, see what happens when we hold the ball (and) have defensive efforts like that, then we’ve got good enough players to come up with plays like that.

“It was big.”
