Jaeman Salmon’s family hit back at Ricky Stuart over feud claims

Jaeman Salmon’s family have called for strong action against Ricky Stuart, who labelled the Panther a “weak gutted dog” in an incredible outburst.

Jaeman Salmon’s family has been stunned by claims that Ricky Stuart’s verbal attack was related to a 2010 incident involving the Canberra coach’s son Jackson.

Now the family wants the NRL to take action against Stuart.

It has been alleged that Stuart had a confrontation with Salmon’s father in 2010 after Jaeman and Jackson exchanged words while playing for De La Salle Cronulla in an under-12s match.

The Salmon family is adamant that no such confrontation took place. Sources close to the family said there was a “childish” incident between Jaeman and Jackson – but denied it escalated to involve the parents.

Jaeman and Jackson continued to play in the same team for another two years and were teammates until Stuart relocated to Canberra at the end of 2013.

The Daily Telegraph has been told that the Stuart and Salmon families parted on “good terms” and have had no contact since Stuart returned to the Raiders.

“We were disappointed by the comments of Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart after what was a fantastic game of football for the Panthers and our son Jaeman,” the Salmon family said in a statement.

“We were surprised by Ricky’s claim that he knows Jaeman personally as they have had no contact since Jae was 12-years old.

“We are calling on the NRL to take action as we believe Jaeman has been wronged in this situation.

“We will follow the correct procedures and let the NRL complete a thorough investigation.”

NRL legend Cooper Cronk said the family statement put added pressure on the NRL to take action.

“This is getting ugly, this is why you can’t cross the line,” Cronk told Fox League.

“And that’s why Ricky was out of line saying what he did.

“Now the Salmon family are standing up for the integrity of their son. And this is adding spice to the NRL to come down a little more heavy.

“They’re asking the NRL to do a thorough investigation and some form of sanction.”

Panthers great Greg Alexander was stunned by Stuart’s comments.

“The game finds itself in a very unusual situation,” Alexander told Fox League.

“I can’t remember any time in the last 20 years this happening at a press conference,

“So the family has every right to issue a statement in support of their son. Now we leave it to the NRL.”
