Penrith’s inconsistent start to the season has followed off the field with a jersey bungle on captain Isaah Yeo’s commemorative jersey.
Yeo became the first Penrith player to reach 250 games but the embroidery on the front of the jersey contained a small typo which has been picked up by eagle-eyed fans.
The date was wrong for the clash – instead of 4/4 it read 4/3. The other elements are correct.
It isn’t quite the “Dargons” situation of last year where St George Illawarra spelt their team moniker incorrectly on Jack Bird’s 150th game jersey. Bird received a new jersey but joked his error-riddled match worn jersey was a collector’s item. The Dragons last year also stuffed up the date for Fa’amanu Brown’s club debut with the wrong month – much like Yeo’s.
Yeo led out the team surrounded by his family and received a ball presentation from coach Ivan Cleary at the end of the game to mark the milestone. Penrith fans were also encouraged to stand and cheer at the 13th minute to show their respect.
