State of Origin 2016: NSW camp to monitor Adam Reynolds’s confidence and fitness

THE NSW camp will closely monitor the confidence levels of halfback Adam Reynolds over concerns niggling injuries could be affecting his play.

THE NSW camp will closely monitor the confidence levels of halfback Adam Reynolds.

Reynolds endured a poor game for South Sydney against North Queensland on Sunday, the Rabbitohs playmaker appearing to be carrying some niggling injuries.

NSW coach Laurie Daley was planning to speak with Reynolds when he arrived in Blues camp from Cairns, where the Souths match was played.

The Rabbitohs medical team has consulted with NSW staff and cleared Reynolds of any serious injury that would place him in doubt for the State of Origin III at ANZ Stadium.

Asked was Reynolds injured and whether that was affecting his confidence, Daley said: “That’s something we need to be aware of and we’ll assess that when he gets back into Sydney.

“We really need to be sure that he is ready to go because we don’t want to be taking anyone into an Origin game ... you’ve got to put the team first. That’s the way I have always operated.

“If you can’t get over an injury, we need to know about it and if you don’t think you’re confident, then we want you to make that team decision.

“I haven’t spoken to Adam and our medical people will assess him and see how he pulls up. You want to make sure you’re fit going in otherwise it’s not the right thing.”

Reynolds has been solid in game one and two.
