Kieran Foran’s future at Parramatta Eels sparks interest of Bulldogs and Roosters

WHAT’S THE BUZZ: THE Bulldogs and Roosters are closely monitoring Kieran Foran’s position at the Parramatta Eels.

THE Bulldogs and Roosters are closely monitoring Kieran Foran’s position at the Parramatta Eels.

There has been interest from both clubs since it emerged on Tuesday that the former New Zealand Test five-eighth had been stripped of the captaincy and handed a $5000 breach notice.

We understand Foran has spoken to his old Manly coach Des Haslerand his manager may have received a phone call from the Roosters.

Neither the Bulldogs nor Roosters are in a position to make an offer because it could be seen as trying to entice a player to break a legal contract.

Foran is in the first year of a four-season contract at the Eels worth almost $5 million.

Parramatta have made it clear they will try to entice code-hopping superstar Jarryd Hayne back to the club next season. No doubt they could do with Foran’s money to make it happen.

At this stage, Eels coach Brad Arthur has given no indication he will release Foran. Still, their relationship is not as strong as it was.

Arthur was the sole reason Foran packed up and left the Manly Sea Eagles this time last year.

The Kiwi star remains extremely tight with Hasler and almost signed with the Belmore club before eventually deciding to go to Parramatta.

Foran is also extremely close to former NSW Origin halfback Mitchell Pearce, which would make the Roosters an attractive option as well — despite their recent signing of Rabbitohs star Luke Keary.
