The 63-year-old was out riding on Sunday afternoon at about 3pm when he was involved in a collision near his home in the Eastern Suburbs.
NSW coach Brad Fittler has spoken to Schubert and his wife Anthea while the Roosters are giving the family support.
Schubert was man of the match playing at fullback in the Roosters’ 1975 grand final win over St George under the coaching of Jack Gibson, the year the club secured back-to-back titles.
He recently took on a part-time role working with the club helping with salary cap management.
