THE WINNER: PENRITH PANTHERS
Five of our 16 expert tipsters (31 per cent) predict the Panthers will claim the Provan-Summons Trophy for the first time since 2003.
The Canberra Raiders were the second- most favoured team with four tipsters (25 per cent) backing Ricky Stuart’s team to win the club’s first premiership since 1994.
Melbourne Storm and the Sydney Roosters both received the backing of two experts each, while only Buzz Rothfield believes the Sharks can go back-to-back.
WOODEN SPOON: NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS
Thirteen of our 16 experts think the Knights are morals to finish with the wooden spoon.
The Dragons and Wests Tigers were the only others teams to get a mention for the dreaded “award”.
TOP EIGHT/BOTTOM EIGHT
Our 16 expert tipsters unanimously agreed the Roosters, Storm, Raiders, Cowboys and Panthers will finish in the top eight, while the Knights, Tigers and Dragons will finish among the also-rans.
The overwhelming majority of them are also predicting the Bulldogs, Sea Eagles, Rabbitohs and Titans to miss out on the finals in 2017.
DALLY M WINNER: MATT MOYLAN
Penrith super star Matt Moylan is the early hot favourite to claim the game’s highest individual honour. Eight of our 16 experts have tipped Moylan to win the Dally M Medal.
Parramatta’s Corey Norman and Canberra’s Josh Hodgson are the only other players to receive multiple mentions (two each).
ORIGIN WINNER: NSW BLUES
The majority of our tipsters (12-4) are predicting the Blues to win Origin.
It’s a big call considering Queensland host two matches in the three-game series.
