David Mead has become the latest signing at the Broncos as the club’s roster rebuild is all but complete ahead of the 2021 season.

Mead has returned to the Broncos following a three-year stint in the English Super League, playing 58 games for the Catalans Dragons.

He previously spent eight seasons with the Gold Coast Titans before moving to Brisbane on a one-year deal in 2017.

Coach Kevin Walters said he hoped the 32-year-old international winger would help foster the new generation of Brisbane talent.

“It’s fantastic,” Walters said.

“He’s one with really good experience, both here and overseas.

“He’s played international football.

“We feel we’ve got a lot of good, young players coming through and David is one of those players who can help nurture their training habits, their playing habits.

“He’s a very experienced player and we’re very happy to have him on board.”

The former Titan has become the latest Brisbane signing under Walters – who has also secured the services of Dale Copley, John Asiata and Albert Kelly since taking over the reins at Red Hill.

The Broncos head coach admitted his roster revamp was nearing its final stages ahead of the 2021 season.

“The roster is pretty much sorted, it’s nearly done,” he said.

“What we see, is what we get and we’re very happy.

“Certainly, I’m very happy with the roster we have and we can do some really good things with it.

“Things can change pretty quickly in rugby league as we know but right now, this would be about it.

“We’re very happy with what we have here at the moment. If we can keep everyone fit and healthy into the season, we’ll be in a good position to start the season really well.”

It comes as the entire Brisbane playing group returned to pre-season training on Monday for the first time after their two-week Christmas break.

The humid Monday morning session also saw the club’s Origin stars – Xavier Coates, Patrick Carrigan and Payne Haas – return to the club for their first day of pre-season training.
