* We’re not sure who the Bulldogs upset at the NRL’s head office. But Canterbury had easily the worst positioned seats on Wednesday – with even the media taking better positioning. The likes of Canterbury interim coach Mick Potter, chief executive Aaron Warburton and chair John Khoury were relegated to the back corner. They joked that perhaps the tables were done based on the 2021 competition ladder.

* One person who wasn’t at the Dally Ms was players union boss Clint Newton, who is in the middle of tense talks with the NRL. Newton hasn’t been invited in recent years. South Sydney superstar Latrell Mitchell also skipped the awards. He was enjoying some time on his farm in Taree before he leaves for the World Cup.

* If there was any bad blood between Adam Reynolds and his former club the ex-skipper Rabbitoh skipper was not showing it. By chance Reynolds happened to sit on the table closest to his old club and spent lots of time mingling with the likes of Jason Demetriou, Cameron Murray, Damien Cook and the man who took over his No.7 jersey, Lachlan Ilias.

* Brisbane’s Payne Haas couldn’t help but chip Roosters rookie Joseph Suaalii about his suave suede suit while the duo walked the red carpet. Suaalii was asked about his expensive-looking suit but before the 19-year old could answer, Haas jibed: “Nick Politis paid for it”. “Show us your Rolex,” Suaalii hit back, pointing at the timepiece on Haas’ wrist. Earlier this year, Politis, a billionaire businessman and Roosters supremo, denied the club would be signing Haas from the Broncos.
