Axed Cowboys coach Paul Green denies his sacking from the struggling North Queensland club had anything to do with him falling out with senior players.
Green slammed rumours of a split with injured captain Michael Morgan or any of his leadership group that may have contributed to the team’s dismal performances this year.
“This keeps bubbling along but it’s wrong,” Green told The Daily Telegraph.
“Morgo (Michael Morgan) came and saw me this morning. He said it was bullshit and ‘where are they getting this from’.
“Once I told them I was going they all came and thanked me.
“There’s honestly nothing in it. The more I defend it the more oxygen you give it.
“We’ve just been through a tough periodlike what happens at all clubs.”

Green confirmed he was told last week his services were not required beyond next year ahead of Sunday’s clash with Penrith.
It is understood his payout will be around the $1 million mark.
“They told me last Wednesday,” he said
“They said as of next year that they want to go in a different direction.
“I had a think about it for a couple of days. All of a sudden it was Friday.
“We were taking a young team to Penrith and I felt obligated to do the game for the players and the staff. I didn’t want to leave them in the lurch.
“I was proud of the way they played. They had a red-hot crack.”

Green says his manager George Mimis will be looking around at other options.
“I’m going to have a nice break and look after my family,” he said.
“Obviously I want to keep coaching and it looks like there’s lots of jobs going.”
Pressed on the Broncos he said: “If they became an option it would be attractive to anyone.
“But I’m not making any inquiries there.”
